Enjoyable for casual fans and devotees
The doco is slick and well made - though you get the impression the Billy Joel would prefer to do the gig without the cameras there to distract him.
An enjoyable doco, it kinda glosses the surface of BJ's life and times, dipping here and there into various anecdotes to reinforce a theme of promoting music and musicians in general. It gives some good tastes of the 2001 classical album BJ released.
My only complaint is that you get to the end of the piece with the distinct impression that there was a whole lot of show that didn't make the final cut. This show would have been better if the editor left the pacing to the dude on the stage. My guess is BJ has done the odd show or two before, and by cutting it up to fit 90min it losses its impact.
