Originally entitled "Alice", the film was re-titled Hellbreeder and drastically re-edited for commercial reasons. Six speaking parts were cut as well as an almost continuous voice over and several direct to camera addresses. The bookend police interviews were re-shoots.
Hellbreder is probably one of the only films to be shot entirely on Kodak's reversal stock and then cross-processed giving the film its unique look.
