so-so family sitcom
pope_innocentyears1 November 2003
'home along' is a sitcom about an urban poor widower (dolphy) who lived along the train tracks. the poverty trials and family problem situations make good comedy for dolphy's latest (and perhaps last?) tv reign.

there is no doubt of dolphy's superior comedic performances, but time and age had definitely slowed him down. the cast 'overflow' does not make for the loss of dolphy's youth and the death of original tv wife nida blanca, and 'home along' and other wannabe 'john en marsha' sitcoms will always fall short of its classic glory.

the first few years of 'home along' were its best. however, as time went along, gags became boring and shallow. even the sitcom's most recent incarnate, home along da airport, fail to deliver the good old-fashioned laughs john en marsha used to radiate.
