Interviews with the director and several of the cast as they talk about the experience of working together and creating the story and feel of 8 Mile. This short film is a bonus on the DVD but to be honest it is of very little real value apart from making buyers feel like they got more for their money.
The dvd is pretty good value anyway as it has better special material but this `making of' is actually nothing of the sort. Rather than being a collection of interesting stories or information it is really a mix of promotional interviews done as they promoted the film. All of the talking heads gush over each other's talents and discuss the `battle pit' and other stuff that is better seen than talked about.
I can understand why this was packaged together as a product but really I can't help but feel disappointed in it and wonder why they didn't bother just getting interesting stuff fresh for the dvd rather than just repackaging old interviews? The material is of little interest simply because it is all promo stuff and I learnt nothing from it whatsoever. If it didn't come with such a good collection of extras then this would be a total horror. As it is, it's just a pointless disappointment.
