Seeing Double
jboothmillard4 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
You remember the Spice Girls movie and how bad it was (besides the songs), well their manager Simon Fuller (also this band's manager) makes the same error putting S Club (another of my favourite bands) in their own film. S Club: Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley Mcintosh, Jo O'Meara, Hannah Spearritt and Rachel Stevens (what happened to the seventh member, Paul Cattermole?) basically ask their boss for a break, they go on it, and while there they see themselves on TV! Three of them swap, and vice versa, half discover they are clones made by a greedy scientist, and the other half just get themselves in trouble. Also starring Gareth Gates as a clone of himself. This film may have more of a plot than Spice Girls' film did, but besides the songs "Bring It All Back", "Don't Stop Movin'" and "Never Had A Dream Come True" there is no good reason to see this film. Not too long after the band split for good. Adequate!

What to say?
michael-turner1325 July 2008
I remember going to see this with my mum when it first came out. Back then I was a fan of S club, not a hugh fan, so I was hoping for a good film.

I do admit that the acting is not so good and the storyline is so-so but the movie is fun.

The jokes are what one thing I thought were good. Also I still enjoy listening to S club's music. Both these factors are what make this film a treat for me.

If you want to watch a fun movie and not care about acting or bad scripting you would enjoy this film, if not you probably would not enjoy it.

If you are a die hard fan of S club 7 like myself you will love this movie

Warning: Spoilers
I was always a huge fan of S club 7 when I was a little girl back in the late 1990s same goes for Spice Girls. So when I found out there was a movie about them I went to the cinemas with my mom the day of its release and I seen it on the big screen. The film is about the band who are tired of their fame, but when they find out that some evil mastermind is creating clones of them, they decide to find out why this evil mastermind has created clones of them and also they find out that other singers are been turned into clones too.

Overall its no masterpiece but if you are a fan of the band then you are gonna love this movie. I like the musical segments of it and it was cool how you see Gareth Gates making a cameo and some guy done up as Micheal Jackson(who looks just like the real deal its so surreal).

Not bad but definitely not that great.

For the band a 9/10 For the film a 4/10 Grade: D+

It's Really Not As Bad As All That... Warning: Spoilers
-Spoilers Are Minor-

It's not that bad, I promise. I never watched the television series, nor did I know any of S-Club 7's music before watching this movie, so I am speaking from a completely fresh point of view. Now, I've read the reviews here and most people are bashing this movie without the slightest hint of reservation, but I feel differently towards it.

Don't get me wrong, this movie is not 'good' by any stretch of the imagination, but for what it is, I found it to be enjoyable. You cannot expect too much from a movie about a pop-rock band being cloned by an evil master-mind, whom they fight simply through the power of their teamwork and their music. However, if this type or music is something you like, then chances are if you go into this movie with an open mind you will like it also.

The acting may not be the very best, but it is at least passable. The plot is ludicrous and definitely laughable, but as it is not attempted to be played seriously, that makes it all the more watchable. The music is fun and rather good for it's intended genre, and audience, the humour can be somewhat childish yet it still finds it's way to amusing. The sets and directing are certainly not going to win any awards but they aren't horrendous either. I am able to look at all above aspects objectively and understand why so many people don't like this movie, but it isn't a bad film for young teenagers, or someone nostalgic for the nineties and early 2000's such as myself.

All and all, six out of ten stars: watchable, entertaining, and not as abominably bad as it's made out to be.

I love it!!!

Being S Club Seven, the film already boosts an ecstatic atmosphere! But seriously, Oprah has a point when claiming: "Don't go there, girl!" Spice World suddenly doesn't seem to be all that bad... I take my money elsewhere!

Funny Movie
XtinaJustN9 July 2003
My friends and I all thought Seeing Double was really funny and cute. Hannah was cracking me up the whole time. I like S Club's songs in there too. They aren't as corny as people think, really they aren't. I'm 17 and I liked it. It is probably better for people who watch their TV show. I liked it a lot.

Brilliant for the whole family
TheArgentWolf1 November 2004
I loved this film. I'd been a fan of S Club for a long time, and loved the series, and I thought the film was a brilliant final point for the band. Everything about the film I loved, from the acting right down to the plot lines.

I love Hannah Spearritt's acting, I think it is so funny. In fact, all the cast can act, which is a rarity for a pop group/acting mix. The songs were ones that everyone knew and could sing along to, and the dancing was brilliant. Other than S Club, the rest of the cast were good actors too.

I also loved the storyline, I thought it was cleverly put together for all ages to enjoy. Altogether, I think it was a brilliant end to S Club's brilliant career. Simon Fuller definitely re-deemed himself after the big mistake that was Spiceworld.

Hilariously funny!!

I didn't expect much when i bought it for £2 (for my younger siblings!), but i was completely wrong!

If you've seen the TV shows, you should know what to expect. The results are of a very similar quality. The acting is, i admit, not great, but very amusing.

Obviously if you can't stand their music, then you probably shouldn't bother with the film. However, if you do, and you keep in mind not to expect Oscar performances, or even a particularly strong story line, you'll love it. It is well worth a watch!

Terrible, it has no plot
beccaj_ilh20 May 2004
I did not particulary want to watch this film in the first place but after seeing it I really wish I hadn't. I was extreamly bored one day during the christmas holidays and sat down to watch this with my younger sister hoping I would at least get a few cheap laughs, how wrong was I. I don't even think my younger sister enjoyed it, because it was that bad. The plot had so many holes it was like a pair of fishnet tights, and was basic enough to have been compleated in 10 minutes, but instead it was dragged out over almost 2 hours. The acting was very very poor and the jokes (if you can call them jokes) were just strange.

Avoid at all costs

I think the movie was a hit. I think, no no no I know the movie was a hit and i love S Club. S Club 7 are great and I have loved them for a long time I don't no why people have a problem with them making movies. The programmes were a big hit thats why they made the movie and now that they have people are disliking them. Thats not right S Club 7 are a band for Disney and always will be good even though they don't sing they are down in history. Look at all of the other boring movies like Rockey err. and the good movies high school musical. I think the movie was a hit. I think, no no no I know the movie was a hit and i love S Club. Slumber Club? Stupid Club? Sucks Club?
Wizard-821 January 2017
A little research on my part revealed that the singing group S Club never really took off in North America. Watching this feature length movie starring the members of the group gives some clues as to why that might have been. To start with, the music in the movie isn't exceptional at all. It's not awful, but it's interchangeable and instantly forgettable. But that's not by far the only problem with the movie. The script is a main offender; the thin story is stretched out past the breaking point, and the members of S Club are written to be extremely bland and lacking serious personality... when they don't come across as being incredibly stupid. What's worse is that all of this material is directed in a manner that gives what's happening in front of this almost no energy or enthusiasm at all. It's easy to see why this movie never got a theatrical release on this side of the Atlantic.
