A Charming Indie Comedy
Scott_Mercer19 March 2004
For fans of indie romantic comedy, this film is quite an accomplished effort for writer/director/producer/editor/actor/craft service boy Mark Ching, just a few years out of film school. The comparison to Woody Allen is a facile one to make; but he is attempting to cover similar ground. He largely succeeds. I am grading on a curve here, with credit given for working on such a low budget.

I've heard that the scene that takes place at an outdoor cafe where the two leads can't hear each other due to incredibly loud construction taking place on the street behind them, had to be improvised since a construction crew showed up at the filming location that day. Such are the trials and tribulations of low-budget film making, but Ching and crew, including lovably bitter male lead Bill Spring, make lemonade out of lemons here. Now, how about a home video release????
