After Shilpa Shirodkar was dropped from the film , Sawan Kumar Tak signed Dipiniti and gave her the screen name "Shilpa" to anger Shilpa Shirodkar for breaching her contract. When Shilpa Shirodkar met Dipiniti at acting classes, she was shocked that she had the same name as her, she was amazed. When she heard the entire story about who she was, she stopped speaking to Dipiniti.
Sawan Kumar was going to launch Shilpa Shirodkar with the film. She signed the contract in 1986 that would contractually oblige her to commit to the film for 4 years. She was not allowed to sign any other film. Sawan got busy with Pyar Ki Jeet 1987 and the film got delayed. Then Rajesh Khanna and Tina Munim walked out of the film after breaking up. Meanwhile Shilpa Shirodkar got a offer from Raj Kapoor for Henna. Then Mithun decided to launch Shilpa in the film Prahar, directed by Raj Tilak. Shilpa decided to break her contract and start signing films. This is when Sawan decided to sue Shilpa Shirodkar's mother for breach of contract .
Dipiniti stated that Sumeet Saigal froze and was very awkward during all the intimate scenes.
Neeta Puri claimed that Sawan Kumar Tak wanted to sign her for the film but wanted something in return. He would call her to his office and make her wait while he was talking to his writers. Then he would call her over to his house at late nights. She refused his advances and left the film. Saawan Kumar Tak told her that she would never ever sign a film in the industry without his help. She could spit on his face if she ever sign a film.
In 1984 Sawan Kumar had announced Bewafaa Sanam with Jeetendra and Sridevi with music by Ved Pal and all the songs were recorded with Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. But the film was shelved and later the same recorded songs were used in Souten Ki Beti.
