Even in the summer, it is good to watch

I watched this in July and even with the Christmas theme, found it touching and sensitive. It is not for someone with a reality-mind as it is full of fantasy and lovely moments that sometimes don't make sense. William Russ did a grand job as Hank. I have only seen him in the remake of The Long, Hot Summer where he played a weak character. But in this one, the expression in his eyes throughout, as Hank considered the things that were happening to him, was wonderful and tender. Valerie Bertinelli was excellent and lovely as usual and very believable in this role. And Peter Falk as Max was splendid and always brought a smile when he appeared in a number of important scenes. There were many special scenes, including the one where Hank realizes who Max really was in his life. It's not for everyone.....especially those who aren't into 'feel-good' movies and this is definitely one! If you like everything to be perfect and make sense, avoid this one. But I think it is well-worth re-watching, which is why I taped it. (Yes, some of us still have VCRs. :)

A Modern Tale of Forgiveness of yourself

    Review Date 6/22/2019

I Have Reviewed OVER 500 "Christmas Films and Specials". Please BEWARE Of films and specials with just one review! For instance When "It's a POSITIVE" chances are that the reviewer was involved with the production. "If its Negative" then they may have a grudge against the film for whatever reason. I am fare about these films.

When a photojournalist (David Cubitt) in the fictional Bay City photographs a mysterious stranger performing an act of bravery, the act quickly becomes headline news and the town dubs the stranger "John Christmas". After seeing the photo, Kathleen McAllister (Valerie Bertinelli) becomes convinced that the mysterious stranger is in fact her long-lost brother Hank (William Russ), a former firefighter.

Well made. Emotions in this ring true. Maybe the plot is a little questionable at times but the emotions the actors bring to each scene make you forget logic. This is worth seeking out. Adults will love this more than the under 18 set.

    Nice story about forgiveness

The backstory is heartwarming but the upfront story with the reward, the ER closing (100k wouldn't save an ER) and the storyline with the daughter singing and the firehouse is very clumsy. Still, unlike the critics opinion, it wasn't a waste and I did buy the DVD. I can imagine a fireman falling apart after people died cuz it happens today.

    Columbo finds Christmas.

Columbo star Peter Falk stars as Max the Christmas angel, who attempts to reunite a fallen hero with his family and help a nurse to save her E.R. from being closed.

I've found this Christmas movie to be dramatic and a little touchy, with a dose of fantasy. It's a nice little drama that takes a while to gain traction in some parts, but Peter Falk does provide much needed entertainment in the film.

William Russ did a fine job as Hank and Valerie Bertinelli was great as Kathleen McAllister, sensitive and believable in her role.

There were many special feel-good moments in the film, so, it is really a film for those who really enjoy sappy, carefree family films. I myself thought the movie wasn't bad, but thought the plot could have used a little more suspense.

Good warm feeling that kick into high gear when Noah meets Hank

A wonderful movie with a definite direction on where it wants to take the viewer. I loved the sub plots. The element of surprise that came with Noah's revelation to Hank was wonderful. Peter Falk's Max was the balance check that prevented any overflow of sugar. At times the character of Max was a bit much. Much of the character's dialogue was to deflect when the opposite character begins to figure things out, however, the technique began to get overbearing. It wasn't until the hand on the shoulder "it's good to see you again" to Hank that I felt that all of the information was revealed.

The movie deserves a good sequel so we can see what happens in Hank's life and of course Kathleen, Noah and the kid.
