Somewhat significant, but equally bleak

"La reprise du travail aux usines Wonder" is a 10-minute documentary short film from 1968, so this one had its 50th anniversary already last year, really old film, not surprisingly it is in black-and-white. Director is Jacques Willemont and this is his only filmmaking credit apparently, so not sure if you can even dall him a filmmaker. Still this one here is not entirely forgotten. The title summarizes it as good as it gets pretty much. We see people screaming and crying and they are out there demonstrating, but towards the end we have a guy saying that it is time to get back to work. Oh well, it is not a bad movie by any means, but I thought there was really little content, even for this brief running time unfortunately. Still I can feel the emotional involvement for those depicted in here, good for them they got featured here as clearly it means something to them, still there was one moment when the female at the center of it all was smiling in an inappropriate moment I think, but maybe it was just me. Also probably interesting for the children and grandchildren of the people in here to see their (grand)parents fight for a better life and job conditions. However, these are still pretty much the only ones that I would recommend this short film too. I did not really watch it intentionally as it was shown before a full feature film here at a local cinema as part of a film series on French movies from the 1960s, so kinda fitting they also went for this one here as introduction. All in all, a thumbs-down. You're not missing much if you skip.
