An excellent collection
MovieAddict201615 December 2004
"Welcome to the Videos" is an excellent collection of Guns N' Roses' music videos - "Welcome to the Jungle," "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Dead Horse," "November Rain," "Yesterdays," "Don't Cry," "Patience," etc.

If you're a fan of Gn'R then this is a must-buy and if you're just getting into their work then you should still check it out. Some of the videos are very good - "November Rain" won the award for Best Cinematography in a music video, "Sweet Child" is great and "Yesterdays" feels very nostalgic as you can tell from the lyrics and style that the band knew they were about to break apart and it was a sort of final farewell.

All in all this is a must-buy and my only wish is that the DVD would have contained commentaries.

Could Have Been Worse, But It's Good.

It wasn't what I would expect from a Guns N Roses video collection. Overall, I liked it. There were some I could expect to be better, like Paradice City. It could have been a little more than just a performance. Welcome To The Jungle pretty much proved that it was the undestined theme for Cops. Sweet Child O Mine, another performance, a little bit of a story. Patience, the first time I saw it, I didn't like it, then when I saw it again, it wasn't half bad. Don't Cry was one of the best ones. It had a story, a little performing (which is OK), and was just plain good. Live and Let Die showed the band as kids (wasn't bad). November Rain was excellent. Yesterdays was nothing great. Dead Hores was good. The Garden was a mix good and bad. Estranged proved what the song meant. Since I Don't Have You wasn't bad. Would I recommend it? Yeah!

Love gnr who doesn't ?

Great best of videos dvd and bands don't do this no more

Only criticism is there's some bangers missing I mean where's you could be mine or civil war even knocking on heavens door?

So much more could have been done with this

But ultimately it's a crowd pleaser but no one does a vid like GNR I hope the rumours are true that this reunion will reveal a new album

Can you imagine if they can recapture that lightening in a bottle that they had in their pomp?

Time will tell but god I hope so

Guns N' Roses: Once and Future King

Okay, the truth is that I hated a lot of GNR's videos, and watching them again hasn't altered my appraisal too much. Andy Morahan was such a hack and those sprawling, meaningless, pseudo-narratives really helped to make the band more of a joke than it should have been.

IMHO, they should have aligned themselves with more visionary people. Mark Romanek and David Fincher -- I would love to see what those guys would do with a GNR video. Spike Jonze, maybe. Any of those "Director's Label" DVD guys.

I guess it's all moot right now. I'm just thankful I got to see the last show of the New GNR's Chinese Democracy tour before the whole thing got pulled. Say what you will, and I know that they canceled a bunch of shows during that small, aborted tour: on December 5, 2002, at Madison Square Garden in NYC, Guns N' Roses lived. They sounded incredible. They looked incredible. (Though I miss Axl's more flamboyant styles -- he just wore sports jerseys throughout, no kilt/catcher's mask combos...)

I pray they/he gets their/his act together. As appreciated as they were, I've always felt they were underappreciated. Or rather, I've always felt they represented much more potential greatness than they ever fully realized. CHINESE DEMOCRACY will be something to behold...

Fantastic! All their videos in their greatness!

I think that Guns n Roses Welcome to the Videos is brilliant. Any time I want to see any of their videos I can just put it on and see all of them! I disagree with the previous comment, I think all the videos are fantastic (however, Dead Horse isn't great) especially November Rain, Don't Cry and Estranged. Those three videos are the real acting ones and you can even see Axl's house in Estranged! No regrets about buying the DVD and would recommend to anyone old and young alike! Just trying to fill the minimum 10 lines required now but I don't really know what else to say. Axl is fantastic, Slash is uber cool, Duff is slick and together they just rock!
