mesmerizing like a car accident

I truly can't convey why i loved this show. Words do not exist in the human language to describe why i watched it week after week (even getting a friend to tape it while i was in Ireland). It just had that special something. By the way don't think I'm a reality tv addict, as i LOATHE all the other ones.

Love Island after me too
nigelxy21 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The people are less dumb, some how this show is dumber. Love Island is a thrash show in a good way, it's over the top sexuality is flat out cringe: for this show they turned down the sexuality with ridiculous physical games and the ludicrous innuendo because it's 2019 and that stuff don't fly anymore. But without that tension this show is just boring trash. They start the first episode by mentioning feminism and then proceed to have the men eliminate women... not sure they know what feminism means. Then they eliminate the black girl right off the bat, and in the next episode the two whitest folks team up against the black guy. Dunno if Americans are just garbage people or these producers are (I'm American). The dynamics of this show are more about the strategy of the game show than people being idiots, which makes it less fun to watch. Also the UK voice over guy is actually funny: this guy really missed the mark. The USA created trash reality TV , and like the rest of our economy it's been left in the dust. Watch the UK version if you're in the mood for some junk that feed the soul (or drains it?), this show is just a washed down boring version.

I was hooked from the start!
Virgos_Eternal_Reign5 January 2008
The best thing reality TV has to offer us is a rather alarming insight into the cruelness of human nature. how we all strive to be top dog. we turn against each other, sometimes without a second thought. we look for faults in another and wait til they do something to us then we throw it in their face. we've all done it. Paradise Hotel displayed all these behaviors perfectly. I liked it cause #1-the guys were just soo hot. #2- I got to sit back & watch some sh*t go down without having to be part of it. We all love drama. Whether we admit it or not. Especially us girls. Its more of a "girly" type show. The only thing that sucked was the producers promising a Paradise return but they never went threw with it. Thank goodness I taped it way back in 2003! There is FINALLY a Paradise Hotel 2 returning to Fox Reality in Feb. 2008. Although, I predict it wont bring the same popularity as the very original first season.

Please, God, send a tornado!

You start to wonder what is going on with TV these days. When I look through the channels, 25 out of 30 are reality shows. There is reality tattoo shows, reality cup cake making shows, reality car restoration shows and the list goes on and on. WHO ARE IN CHARGE AND WHY DO THEY CHOSE TO BROADCAST THIS????? I wonder if it is an alien conspiracy or even worse, is it true that these shows are what people really want?

It makes me surf quicker and quicker through the list, like a swimmer trying to reach the shore before the shark gets me. And..finally I found something on Travel channel..Rick Stein making food somewhere in Asia. No, wait! There is his friend talking about what an ass hole he is that he fried the potatoes in stead of boiling them, and that he wants him to be voted out. And there is the blonde girl dissing his food, saying she only likes sushi. AhhhhhhhhhhhgggHHHH!!! The shark got me! I can't feel my leg! Blub..blubb...blubb.....

Awesome show! I would love another one.

Warning: Spoilers
I thought Paradise Hotel was amazing. It kept my attention all the time. I worked 12 hour shifts(7 p.m.-7 a.m.) so I made my husband tape it for me. I would get off work and come straight home and stay up and watch it. It's amazing how you can work 12 hour shifts and not be too tired to watch t.v. lol! I watch reruns and my husband laughs at me, but yet I see him sit there and watch it over and over also.I am so looking forward to a "Paradise Hotel" second season. This could be a big hit like American Idol. I have only liked 3 reality t.v shows. Paradise Hotel, Temptation Island, and American Idol. All 3 were awesome. They need another Paradise Hotel. Maybe make something for married couples! Who knows? I think it would be great.

Another garbage show
socrfan110 April 2019
What's the matter writers? Running out of ideas so we're seeing more and more good programs cancelled for gimmicky crap? Pathetic.

Not at all how I remember this show
jesmith-2636831 May 2019
This show was great 15 years ago. Paradise Hotel 2 is complete garbage. No great comp plays and no fascinating love connections.

The hostess is the absolute worst. The music is straight out of a Skinemax movie. The male voiceover is annoying and embarrassingly not funny.

I will be surprised if this show gets renewed.

Addictive! Watch OUT!
Desertdback8 September 2003
This show is addicting. Once you watch it, you will never be able to get away again. You get so caught up in these people's lives on the show, that you start caring about them more than your friends and family and your family dog, will die, because you will forget to feed it, because this show is soo addictive. Well maybe not that much, but it is fun to watch adults act like they are ten years old again and to watch these people make out on live television and the girls are great eye candy, as well.

Great Show!
danimac61615 October 2003
I thought that this show was great! I loved tuning in every week to find out what happened next. I was also pleased with the final result and can't wait to see the 2nd season. I loved all the contestants, some of them I loved to hate, but all in all, it was a good show. Very dramatic, and fun at times. I thought this show was awesome! By the way, they had some cute couples..... that's all I am going to say about that. PARADISE ROCKS MY WORLD!

Trash
piasa840474 August 2003
Fox has outdone themselves yet again. This show is pure garbage. If you want to watch women who think way too much of themselves act spoiled, bitchy, children, and guys act like self centered, wimpy, whiny kids that can be led around by their hormones and not their brains, then this is the show for you. As long as America continues to watch this scripted "reality" junk, it won't go away. And this is the worst, most pathetic of that genre. Quit watching, and maybe this trash will go away, and the idiots on the show will realize that their fifteen minutes of fame is fifteen more than they deserved.

Worst crap on TV
superslick23 September 2003
Who in their right mind would watch this garbage. Why would anyone want to watch a reality show where the most arrogant, self-centered people that you hated in high school get to go to a beautiful resort and hook up with each other. These are without a doubt the exact same people we all hated in high school, the ironic thing is that even though these people are in the mid to late 20's they still act like the a-holes in high school. It is crap like this that not only makes people hate reality shows, but also hate TV. How is it a game when there are no games to be played. The point is to hook up? This is what Fox executives think people want to watch. With all the good shows on TV that people don't watch why would they think we would watch a bad show? Man its hard for me to even put into words just how bad this show is. I hope that not one of the people who were on the show gets any level of celebrity because of it.

I am a kind considerate person, am a grandma love my kids and grandkids. There for it hurt me to see all those people act so mean to the final four, that was just heart wrenching. The producers should never have let this happen it went from so much fun to watch to Oh MY God please stop the abuse. I am sure the majority of the watchers felt the same way . Zack acted so terrible and so did Tony they were the two bullies and then there were more and more and more. Having these people on the show only made the show be more unappealing to me. There is no one that likes people like that. I thought that Keith was the only gentleman there he never lied to anyone and also Tara was another honest person she has so many chanes to say what was on her mind but instead she just sat there and nodded her head bravo for her she just did not want that kind of attention.

Xquisite.

Fox got rid of "Family Guy" for this!!!!
smithgdwg12 August 2003
Im surprised people watch this sorry excuse for a show. Hell I was flipping through the channels and watched ten minutes of this crap(which I want back BTW), and I felt physically ill. I wish everyone on the show would just drop dead(they are all rich kids who think life is soooo hard for them....cry me a river).

I will be very glad when this fad(yes its a fad for those who actually like this type of s#$%) is done with and buried, so that we can watch entertaining shows that actually are fun to watch.

Btw, I just want to say how much I hate the Fox network now for pushing away loyal fans of great shows (Family Guy) to make clear for these brainless marketing shows. I guess Fox isn't interested in making quality programming anymore.

The game
glenn-derby15 August 2005
I have been watching this show and I have even watched the re-run of it. I have to say it gets better every time. First of all Keith is the only one who should have won this as he was most sincere to the people he was cool with. In the end it turns out that they were not that sincere to him. Tara was dissing him on the radio show and others are talking crap about him. When he was in the running to come to paradise hotel he was cool with everyone but then Zack said something about having washboard abs to get into PH and Keith showed him his abs after that Zack made it a personal Vendetta. Which Keith won!! I wish I knew Keith so that if Zack would come with those fantasy 50 guys of his we would kick some ass!! Anyway good luck to Keith Furthermore I just wanna say that it seemed as-if it was the Zack and Amy show as everyone was trying to keep them on the show. I am just glad they did not win. All the other characters except Keith and bitch Charla were just ass kissers to Amy and Zack.

Keith you rule and to hell with anybody who does not agree with me!! Peace up!!

Paradise Hotel (OR: Human Relations and Behavior Experiment)
Patient07 February 2004
Warning: Spoilers
--- Some Spoilers Included ---

This show rocks. I didn't see it from the beginning so it took me a while to understand all that room switching and how it means people are kicked out, but once I was on to it I was addicted.

At first all that was interesting was watching Charla. Seems like beautiful faces do have a part in creating a TV show, but that wasn't all.

Things were pretty fun in the beginning. It was a hotel and not a ruthless game (except for when the time came each week to vote someone off the hotel). Along came Keith, and for no clear reason the guests were divided into originals and newbies (+ Awesome Charla). At that point it wasn't as much him as it was the producers of the show who chose to keep him safe from elimination, thus forcing him to make some guests mad by sending someone home.

As far as I recall, this was the first actual twist of the series (and where it really began) followed by many more unexpected twists and turns (of paradise-- Amanda). At some points the guests had to make some though choices, which might seem ridiculous knowing back then that all there is to it is just some paradise-hotel-time. Sometimes it came to choosing between

backstabbing-friends-with-whom-you-have-an-alliance-whose-room-mate-is-your- girlfriend's-friend and people who never lied to you and who were nothing but honest with you.

Till all the twists began, it was quite ordinary and usually wasn't all that exciting because it took time to get attached to the characters in the show. The might have had to edit it to "cut to the chase" a bit faster, or maybe not. I'm still not sure.

Generally, I think the character selection was rather good, even though there were some characters who had not too much to offer (some of which made a long way in the series) including Alex and Kristin whereas others were just plain irritating (Toni) with inconsistent behavior for better and for worse ("Excuse me!" incident).

To sum things up, I give it a 10/10 (9 for Charla + 1 for twists and turns... or maybe some other calculation... I don't know. This is the toughest decision I ever had to make).

To sum it up even more- 10/10 and Charla rocks.

  • "What do I have to say about Zack being disqualified? I kicked him off again."

ZZZ...ZZZ...ZZZ...ZZZ

Paradise Hotel is a show you can sleep to, in fact, it's a show you can skip out on. The process goes like this: 5 men of the opposite sex pair up with 5 of 6 women, or the reverse order, and a person is being kicked out of the hotel for good. Off to the LA studio where never raspy, English like Anne Robinson host Amanda Byram mingles with 2 contestants chosen from the audience, site or wherever, and talks about what the new person knows. Then, the hotel guest chooses the person and off to the hotel the new person goes, and they make love, talk, do something weird, and it goes on and on and on and on...I wish it was Off the air forever!!! Let me take a nap...zzz...zzz...zzz...zzz...

So incredibly, horribly bad...that it's good!
sharbaug-17 January 2005
I downright loathed this show. But for some reason, I kept watching it each week. Half the time I couldn't follow all the characters and all the new ones they were introducing. And, for awhile, I felt as though the show would continue into eternity because the idea behind it was just so grueling and continuous...as soon as someone gets kicked off, someone new comes on. I heard they were continuing the show into a second season, but I think they reconsidered because it didn't really do that great in the ratings. Oh well. I don't think anyone is really hardcore missing this show. It was typical FOX fare--Reality TV so bad that it's just so freaking good.

Pointless, but oh so good!
sdj8830 December 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Sure, PH is just another reality show. However, it is so incredibly addictive! You just really feel connected with all the contestants and you take sides whenever they are in a fight (which is quite often) and you feel bad for them whenever they have to make horrible decisions. I felt totally bad for Dave, because he had a little crush on Charla and she didn't want him. He kept trying though! You gotta give him points for that! Basically, all the contestants acted like teenagers, but...it's so much fun! Wish they would start a second season. I will almost certainly watch it. Last but not least: Who did not enjoy the little World War III, that was going on between Zack and Keith? What was going on with them in the first place? Zack was such a child!

I Want A Ticket !!
BigPoppazBoo21 August 2003
Some say this is just "trash" TV, but I think it is one of the better of the "reality" TV shows on right now. Sure they're all gorgeous, bitchy, backstabbing brats, but that's what makes it fun. We all need to escape our own realities sometimes, and this show helps me do just that.

lil_princess_4531 August 2003
Paradise Hotel was pretty good in the beginning but sense all the originals are all getting kicked off it's become really stupid and Charla needs to get a life, Tara she just needs to hang with other people, Scoot needs to stop doing everything people tell him to do,amy needs to get over Zack and try to win this game, all the others Dave, Tom, Desiree,Holly, and Kieth need to go Home!!!!

Best Reality Show I've Seen
gwenny_0023 August 2005
Most of the time I think reality shows are a waste of time, but I really enjoyed this show and watched it every week. You really get drawn into it and start to get very interested in what's going to happen to the characters. It also never got boring or you never felt like you were watching the same thing over and over again every week. New problems would arise and new characters would join when others were kicked off. It kept your attention and didn't have a strange storyline to it like many other reality shows we all know. It also did not seem scripted or fake which is always a plus. If you get a chance to watch Paradise Hotel I recommend you check it out!

One Great Show
dominick1122 October 2003
This is and was the best reality show ever...Good music, great cast and awesome hostess...The cast changes so slowly, that you feel like you know each one of them...And they keep you guessing what the ultimate prize is...Alot of twists the last few weeks and it builds up to the ULTIMATE PRIZE. Looking forward to PH2.

Silly, but oddly intriguing (not that you'd admit to it)
kitsa4 September 2003
Yes, this show is stupid. Yes, this show is a waste of time and resources. Yes, I believe it's as real as a cat's affection around dinnertime. I agree to all these things and more. Yet, for some reason, when it airs I can't look away. If I went out of my way to watch it, I suppose that would mean Fox truly had me by the giblets.

Really, though, is it any worse than any of the other proverbial wads of already-been-chewed gum that Fox has lobbed in our direction? More trite than Temptation Island? More scripted than Survivor? Nah. It's the same recycled garbage in a shiny new package. Same tans, same thongs, same junior-high antics, same in-your-face sex, same "boot 'em off one by one" plot and same "leave the audience hanging" mentality. Nothing to see here, folks, move along home.

That said, it's that much time that I'm not worrying about what happened at work today, that much time that I can turn on mental autopilot and go back to my term papers with fresh eyes later. We have precious little to do in this life than reproduce, be generally decent to one another (more or less), keep our work area clean, and entertain ourselves until we die.

As Malcolm McDowell said in the title role of Caligula (par.)- "Relax! It's only a show!"

You Either Love It or You Hate It!
SeptemberGirl021 September 2003
I am obsessed with this show. I dont EVER miss it. Its just one of those shows though, that if your not into it then your NOT into it. Some shows you just get hooked on and this is one of them. I personally have always related to Charla and the Charla/Keith/Dave/Tara alliance...well one of them had better win - thats all I gotta say! I saw one person who said that they thought this show was so boring but like I said, with this show you either love it or you hate it. I personally love it and can't wait to see how it ends!!!
