Indie spoof of scary movies... or a slacker Nosferatu?
counterzoom19 July 2006
Scream Queen looks like an indie DV movie that goes behind-the-scenes in the making of an indie DV horror movie... kind of like the version of Nosferatu with John Malkovich that starts with the premise that the actor might really be a vampire. Good characters, including a horror movie geek who decides that he can make a movie just as good as the ones he loves, and the B-movie actress who's the star of his favorite movies and the object of his obsession. He decides that he, being her biggest fan, should direct a movie where she finally gets to stretch her acting talents. There's good plot twists, as the no-budget production is forced to shoot in a remote location in the Mojave desert with an inexperienced, strange crew... It's like Scary Movie for people who have brains.

I really liked (for what it is)
avalos197919 July 2006
This is an excellently (is that a word?) produced movie, if we take in consideration that was made with no budget. Seems like a group of professional (industry related) friends got together and produced this in digital video (Canon Xl1?) but everything from lighting to photography seems to be really good.

The actress and lead actor are really specially good, and the situations described within the entertainment industry are very accurate, even though in this movie are there for the purpose of making you laugh, they really happen in real life, just as described.

I wonder why I haven't seen it on video...

scream queen is fun and good camp
lisas-1719 July 2006
this is one of the better DV films out there, especially considering how much the technology has advanced from 2002 when this was shot. the characters are well drawn... you feel for our heroine and take a real journey with her as she goes from a sleazy queen of the seedy horror pictures- dealing all too willingly with the shady characters trying to benefit from her beauty... and scream... to the kinder, gentler scream queen stuck in the desert with amateur horror film makers. i quite enjoyed the cast of oddballs and grew to love them as much as our heroine. yes it's low budget, but it's campy and lots of fun and actually tells a fairly compelling story with likable characters who have actual growth as humans.

It's a Scream!

I saw this film at the Los Angeles Film festival and loved it. There were many laugh-out-loud moments. It's got something for everyone. Romance, comedy and plenty of behind-the-scenes tidbits interesting for film buffs and horror fans alike. The character's journey is compelling and fun. The lead actress really captures not only the role but the audience's heart. The style of the film elevates it to beyond most DV movies. It's fast paced, original and funny. I could imagine this becoming something of an underground classic. The original music is really cool. I wonder if there will be a soundtrack? The bottom line: Scream Queen is a Scream. Rent it, buy it, play it and enjoy!

scream queen

This movie is lots of fun and should be watched by everyone who likes to have fun! I saw Scream Queen at a screening awhile ago and I cant wait for it to get distribution. It seems like there are not enough cult weird fun horror movies out there and this movie works for me on several levels. I also heard that the director Tatianna Bliss is huge in Germany like David Hasselhf, which is pretty sweet. Anyway lets hope Tatianna makes more movies! My only critique of this movie is that I think it could have been a sweet musical. The producers should consider adding song and dance numbers and adapting this for stage because I think there is an audience for that with Scream Queen!
