Did anyone else think this movie was bad?
jmfreem00127 January 2006
It's absolutely hysterical...how people think this movie is actually funny. What a complete waste of time. I almost fell asleep while watching this movie due to the lack of a meaningful plot. There's better writing in an Ed Wood film.

Brett Bower is definitely not a legitimate leading man. His performance is stilted and completely lacking in any worthwhile emotional content.

The usage of the 8mm camcorder was evident in the poor video quality. The director tried to justify this video quality by saying the slower shutter speed gave it a "filmish" look. When in actuality it added nothing to the overall look.

The lighting in this film was amateurish, but was easily overshadowed by the elementary style of the cinematography. The shots were basic and boring. If he wants to be a filmmaker he should try doing something different instead of doing something that any idiot with a camera could do.

Anyone who would rate this in the same category of great independent films like Requiem for a Dream and Pulp Fiction are not credible critics.

Although at first look this film seems to be a solid effort in independent film-making, there is a lot of room for improvement. Brett Bower has an extremely long way to go before he could be considered on a level with industry professionals.

Absolutely hysterical! You will LOVE this film!

This is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. I laughed so hard I was almost crying! Well written, great cast, easily one of the best romantic comedies to come along. Great comic timing, characters you can relate to, nice camera work and editing. Good pacing and witty dialogue. You really get to know the characters and care about what happens to them. I've seen the movie twice now and it's just as funny the second time. Our whole row was shaking because of all the laughter! I would recommend this movie to people of all ages. It really has a wide appeal. You'll have a great time following the antics of these characters and their story. Very well done.

STAR-CROSSED: Boom! You're hooked.
onthemark1 December 2005
Finally, a film I can share with everybody. It will expose the "incurable romantic" in anyone. Artsy. High-class. Watch it once, and BOOM! You're hooked. You'll watch it over and over. You'll share it with your friends. Chick flick? Yeah... but more.

STAR-CROSSED deals with the dating scene and all its awkwardness, surprises, and pitfalls. Who cannot relate to this?

A beautiful story is woven amidst (and in spite of) the apparent inability of men to understand women.

You can't help but wonder if a power more intelligent than yourself has reserved for you a dream woman, a soul-mate. It makes me want to be more patient... and rest in hope. That's the deal, man. That's the ticket.

Bravo!

Brett Bower does an excellent job of screen writing, acting, producing, and directing this romantic comedy. If you ever want to know what's going on inside the mind of twenty-something men, when it comes to relationships and dating and frustrations, thereof, this is your opportunity for an insider's view. It's funny but clean, folks! And that is a rare combination these days - all compliments to the screenwriter! And there are lots of jokes about things I've never even thought of before - I can't reveal some of my favorite lines, because that'll spoil the movie for you. All the more reason to contact Brett Bower and buy a copy of Star-Crossed, so you can laugh along too. Also, this DVD has a slew of bloopers, outtakes, behind-the-scenes footage, etc., so it's definitely worth your while. The storyline is entertaining, not predictable and Brett Bower has a stellar cast of characters! Again, HILARIOUS with a capitol H!

A Movie With HEART

Watched this movie and fell in love with it. The characters and storyline are great. And the subplots along the way cracked me up. Great comedy. Great romance. The cast did a great job and the script has a lot of heart.

The guy who played Scott was one of my favorite characters, especially in the television store and the coffee shop scenes. He's great throughout the film and is very talented.

I'm glad we had a chance to see it. I'd like to watch it again. We really enjoyed it, so congrats on a film that the whole family can watch. Good clean fun!

Great fun!

So, this Toby guy wants a break from bad dates. How do his buddies cure him? By setting him up with a stalker chick. Priceless!

An awesome ensemble cast that is great fun to watch throughout.

Jennifer Kristin Garner shines on screen, and the comic sidekicks Dave Wilder and Jeremy Smith are hysterical. The witty banter between Toby and his boss is very memorable. The boss reminds me a little of one of the mean doctors on "Scrubs."

The supporting cast does a great job as well. Natalie, Monica, and the boyfriend Jason...all solid scenes.

Had a great time watching this story unfold! =)

A Very Enjoyable Story
bensonhm77710 April 2006
I saw Star-Crossed with my husband. We both thought it was quite enjoyable. You could say it's kind of a chick flick, but there's a lot of humor in it that both men and women can relate to. We were both laughing out loud all the way through. And our 10-year-old loved it, too. It's safe for all ages. That's rare for romantic comedies, but quite true in this case.

We all thought the girl who played Kara was superb. And Toby was a wonderful match. Great cast all around. They are all quite talented. Nice writing, too. A very enjoyable story with funny and touching twists along the way.
