Postman Maurice Heylants is on round when he gets shot in cold blood. He got a bullet right through the heart and a bullet in the abdomen. The interrogation of Mathilde Dekoninck, neighborhood resident who found the body, only shows that the postman was not long ago placed on the route. Annie Heylants is very excited by the death of her brother. She says that Maurice was a good single man who lived in isolation and had no problems. Who would want to hurt someone like him? The postmaster may not research in a hurry, but admits that Maurice objected being assigned a new round in the city, where the social interaction is a lot less. There is no suspect and no motive until Ivo Verbruggen, the new partner of Van In, discovers Maurice maybe was not so innocent. Would the postman got a wrong letter in his hands?

Long slender woman legs come down the stairs. A handsome young lady leaves the spacious villa. Remco and Robert, two bodyguards, grin. The Cuyvers family is having breakfast when the police (led by David Peeters), raid the house. Nico Cuyvers was bookkeeper and money launderer of top-gangster Reinhard Stievus. Now he wants to confess to the police as his family is in danger - they get police protection in exchange. Jana, Nico's daughter, is not happy and runs off. Van In and co search and find the daughter, but Jana won't go home. Carine Neels decides to offer the girl shelter for the night. But this is not a good idea it seems, because the same night they are both kidnapped.

Mitch Dedecker gets a phone call from Rudy De Roo, an elderly man who guards his neighborhood down to the minutest detail. Rudy is beaten up and a patrol is sent immediately to his home. They find his lifeless body in the kitchen. The agents also find traces of violence. Who would benefit from the death of this lonely man? Nobody and everybody, because Rudy De Roo got on the nerves of many of his neighbors. There is no evidence but the entire neighborhood have alibies - so the investigators have to check to find out who may have an appropriate motive for the murder. And there are quite a few.

The team arrests guard on duty haughty museum director Mia Demeyer seems to care more about her frequently vandalized car. Insurance account manager Leo Sanders admits her charms made him accept works at the edge of priceless for insurance purposes, already up for revision. He opposes her posting a finder's fee notice on a stolen art website, yet when she gets a reply offers to bring the ransom himself, which leads to two more crimes. More secrets emerge. Meanwhile Carine behaves hostile when Mitch invites a friends circle for cards.

Ivo goes on trial for Gary's premeditated murder. His lawyer, Werner Van Hove, tries to shift the moral indignation to magistrate Hannelore Martens, but although he probably senses her infidelity with helpful, more opportunistic colleague Guy Van Steenkiste, Van In supports her. Ivo insists to let him help with the hunt for a pickpocket gang, perhaps the trio that escaped him in Antwerp, which already robbed Mitch's wallet.
