Where has this gone?

Though only an hour long, this adaptation of Katherine Patterson's youth novel is rather entertaining. Jodie Foster, though doing her patented "troubled teen" role, runs the emotional gamut as a kid who tells lies to avoid facing reality. Her foster family (though not credited, Mrs. Trotter has a geeky little boy who serves as Gilly's punching bag/confidant) I have not seen this in a long time (not since Nickelodeon dropped their "Special Delivery" programming of old school favorites like "Really Rosie" and "The Electric Grandmother.) It is a little dated, and there is room for it to be remade (especially depending on the success of "The Bridge to Terabithia.")

"Get The Heck Out Of My Way!"

Warning: Spoilers
Apparently I confused Tricia Cast and Heather McAdam bigtime, as I thought it was McAdam in this program and I thought it was McAdam in the TV show Bad News Bears.

Both were Tricia Cast.

Cast was a foster child sent to Conchata Farrell, who, as the previous poster said, was a rather quiet little boy, who is NOT listed here on IMDb, for some reason.

Cast would finally get the boy to open up by screaming "Get the heck out of my way!" over and over again, so when he felt people were pressuring him, he could just scream that at them.

This was one of the longest jokes between me and my sister. We did teach this to the neighborhood kid Mom baby-sit, but I don't think he ever used it. We were odd kids.

The program ended unhappily, oddly enough, as she was removed at the end and taken elsewhere, even after Farrell and her young son had managed to have a good effect on the young Cast.

Of all the After School programs (even tho this was rival CBS' offering) this was definitely one of the top ten out of all the programs around back then.
