Simple delivery in digital video that is effective and sobering

An ironic look at the reporting of child deaths due to accidents and the like, whereas the reality is many more children suffer at the hands of their parents that suffer due to accidents.

With a constant flowing poetry narration, this short film moves around a house at Christmas, recounting the stories of accidents that have befallen children. It then moves to the streets to talk about stranger danger. However then it suddenly moves to look at the reality, that more children are harmed by a relative or such than the more widely reported causes.

It looks crisp and clean (the house has been perfectly staged and set) but it is an incredibly moving and sobering short. It's poetry and flow defies the subject matter and it has a great effect. While it is hard to know what to learn from it, it is best viewed as a reminder that the stuff that fills our front pages, while tragic, is not always the normal and majority of situations. While we need to protect our children from strangers etc, often it is sources closer to home who are the harmers.

Overall this is animation used well to bring a subject out and deliver a message. I was knocked back by the flow and how it contrasted with the subject. It is simply a sobering film that is well worth hunting down.
