Great musical entertainment
Buuks31 December 2003
I liked this sort of shows, brass players that are dancing and singing. You will find a lot of music elements here, from classic to blues and from jazz to Spanish. All of the artists are very talented, which you must be to things like this. The solo parts are amazing, especially the trumpet parts. They are played sometimes so emotional so perfect I can listen to it for ever. This one gets two thumbs up!!

Wonderful, breath-taking; crank the volume!
satyrmage23 August 2004
Having seen this live, with most of the same talented young folks you see in the DVD, I have to say that the DVD is both annoying (changing camera angles), and wonderful (for those same changing points camera angles). Actually, the first time I watched the DVD, the camera changes were distracting... but every time since then, I see something different going on, and I love it. The precision marching (dancing?) is superb. The music is astounding. The (nonexistent) sets, props and the use of color enhance the mood and feel of the music. I must admit, some of the funky interpretational stuff in "Yellow" wasn't to my taste, but what the heck; this has something for everybody! A must see! (Oh, and if you have a chance to see this live, do NOT miss it!)

Drum Corps meets Broadway: Audience walks away the winner.
hormellover12 December 2008
Having been a drum corps aficionado for many years, and having marched myself (evidence of a misspent youth, I assure you), I've got to say that this is by far the best show I've seen. It takes the elements of drum corps (that's usually done on a football field) and expands it into a wonderful showcase for a wide variety of talent. They took each subsection of the corps and highlighted them wonderfully, allowing each section to demonstrate their strengths, while others acted in a supporting role. While there were soloists, there were no prima donnas.

And that middle horn section (Mellophones, Flugel Horns, French Horns, Alto horns and sometimes baritone horns) has got to be the best ever assembled. I'd give it three thumbs up if I had three thumbs.

wonderful show

Blast! is a really wonderful show that anyone and everyone would enjoy. It has expressive colors, incredibly talented musicians, and beautiful performances! The performance of Officer Kumpkre was my favorite one. You can definitely tell that the musical performers enjoy what they're doing and take pride in their music. I saw this special on PBS, and purchased a DVD from the station. I also saw a live performance of this show at Disneyland in '02 and at Epcot in Walt Disney World in '01. (It is no longer being performed at either theme park resort) I really recommend watching this show because you will love it and enjoy every second of it!

This show can be super exhilarating one moment and make you want to slowly fade into the void the next. God I dislike this thing so much.
