Brilliant and moving

I saw this film at the AFI Film Festival in the fall of 2003 in Los Angeles.

It was magnificent. The direction, acting, writing and cinematography were outstanding. The story was moving and emotionally resonant. The style of the film left room for interpretation, and yet its overall meaning was always clear. It was a rewarding film to watch. By the end of the film, there was not a dry eye in the house, and the audience cheered with shouts of "Bravo!"

A woman traveling a two lane road is taken to visit the most important people in her life.

This is one of the most staggeringly emotional films I have seen in AGES. Beautifully filmed and acted. Annette Uhlen as Kathrin managed to fill the screen with compassion while not overpowering the viewer. The unfolding of the plot was perfectly paced. There was a heart and soul present here that is sadly absent from so many contemporary films. Reminiscent, to me, of Wim Wenders' work "Wings of Desire." It was hard to believe there was such joy and compassion portrayed, along with such a wrenching twist. I was lucky to see this film three times and wept equally with each viewing - yet came back for more! Through the tears I was elated to have experienced this work. If I wore a hat I would remove it in salute to Director Sikander Goldau - bravo! See it if at all possible. Seek it out!!!
