- Section One operative Eric Webber offers to help Nikita escape from Section One with him, but Nikita does not know whether she can trust him.
- "Someone has been watching Nikita -- someone who now comes forward and offers a foolproof way of slipping free of Section's grasp. Is it the opportunity Nikita has sought? Or is it a covert test of her loyalty?"
Nikita is confronted by a fellow member Section named Eric who offers her a way out of Section. He has designed a virus that will erase them from the database and they will become ghosts. Nikita wants to know if this is a test put forth by Section or if it is the real deal.
Michael begins showing an active interest in Nikita. He asks her to dinner, comes over for coffee, kisses her, etc. throughout the episode. Nikita is suspicious of his motives.
Nikita, Michael, and Eric go on a mission to recover two U.S. Marines from the custody of a terrorist and find one dead. The team splits up while searching for the second Marine and Eric tells Nikita it is time to go. But Nikita finds she cannot just leave the innocent to die and they miss their chance to run.
On a follow-up mission, Nikita poses as a temp to rescue the second Marine. When Eric tells her it is time to go, she finds she cannot leave, this time because of Michael. Eric insists that Michael does not love Nikita, but she doesn't care. Eric promises to remove her from the virus and takes off by himself.
After Nikita returns from the mission, she finds out that Eric's virus only erased him from the primary system, and that he's still in the backup system. Michael tells her Section will find him...and anyone who might have gone with him. Enraged, Nikita rips the cameras out of her apartment's walls and throws them down as a gauntlet to Operations. Cancel surveillance on Nikita or cancel her.
