The original broadcast in 1969 was preceded by a 7 minute introduction by Pollo Hamburger in which he gave some background information on the period 'Floris' adventures take place in.
One of writer Gerard Soeteman's original ideas for the series was that Sindala had brought along a chimpanzee from his travels. Behind the scenes photographs of the opening scene in which Floris and Sindala wake up reveal that this sequence was originally shot with a chimp in their presence. A number of circus chimps were hired to perform the role of Jeroen the chimp, but they proved difficult to work with, so the planned appearance in 6 installments was reduced to a mere 2, and the backstory was altered to Jeroen being owned by Rogier and located at Castle Oldenstein. The opening scenes for this installment were re-shot without the chimp.
Jos Bregman had a long-standing fear about horses. Anxiety sweat broke out when he only got in the vicinity of horses. While he, like Floris, actually had to have a big tuber, a tough draft horse named Nero, for Sindala it was reduced to a very tiny horse: Wampie, a small fjord horse.
