How to win friends and influence people

After the results of his first proper case Dangerous stock in the hearts and, minds of his work colleagues plummeted to an all time nadir. Their disdain turned to complete and utter contempt, and even the relatives of the victim treated him as a pariah.

In his nick the detectives notions of team work is to leave Dangerous behind, on a job without bothering to inform him it has been called off.

But DC Davies need never worry about being completely bereft, of a criminal case to investigate. For he could always rely on, his old chum Mod coming up trumps.

A perpetual trouble for Dangerous Davies is primarily of his own making, he is quite literally his own worst enemy. For he is far too good for his own sake, as even his disinterested ex spouse will attest, when the mood takes her.

Dangerous resides in digs a b&b with landlady Mrs Fulljames, who always seems to have something of twinkle, in her eyes when it comes to him.

Mod tells Dangerous Davies investigates about the disappearance of elderly Vernon Dulciman who has been missing for some weeks.

His wife Vera seems to be unbothered. Vernon is bit of a philanderer and the Dulciman's have a rocky marriage. Vernon seems to regularly disappear after an argument with his wife.

Davies does not buy Vera's story. There is also something strange in the Dulciman's household. A brother of the home help who keeps hanging about.

Peter Davison and Sean Hughes have a good rapport going. Davison does well in showing Davies as a tenacious but put upon loser. His colleagues demean him in every turn.

This is another story based on a Leslie Thomas story. Again I felt that the comedic parts were dialled down too much.

This is still a series trying to find its feet but seems to come across as just a little old fashioned.
