This episode is an honorable mention for me. The only weak point in the episode is the second tale which is just ok but nothing to run home about as it's kind of a "Christine" rip off. But sometimes the magic of these double bill episodes is when one may 'be a miss (depending on your preference) another is a hit and this one is a hit. Really also like this was written by Terry Black which is cool as he has written for the "Tales from the Crypt" tv show and I think he's an underrated script writer.

The story "Gone Fishin" isn't so much scary more of a black comedy which is cool as that's part of what the EC comics are, and this story plays out like a true E. C. Comics tale.

From the beginning the main character Uncle Ned is a completely unsavory character. The guy literally is the living definition of toxic masculinity. The guy doesn't care about nature, education as we see him throw Eddie's science book into the lake (yeah nice Uncle), but what's really disturbing is his total disregard for life.

From a scene where he's going fast on the motorboat and might even be over the legal limit in both speed but also alcohol consumption as we've seen a series of empty can which you can bet your sweet dollar isn't soda pop. But as he's going fast, he almost runs over a cluster of ducks, it makes me wonder what if next time it's not duck but a group of swimmers and divers. We also see what he does with the great number of fish he catches by just kicking the ice bucket over and letting them rot.

And as I said before the guy has toxic masculinity, from believing respect for nature and living things in it along with reading makes you a wimp. Not wanting to catch fish, being a fisherman, and having compassion and open mindedness doesn't make you a man. Yeah, Ned alone can send male progress back millions of years.

Like the kid Eddie whom despite being with bad company he at least keeps his head above water. We see Eddie is open minded and he is seeing fish literally like people with fish heads and walking on land, the fact Eddie is seeing them we know it's a bad omen of what's to come.

Really love what the nephew Eddie says to Ned that he's no fisherman but a bully, which is true because Ned does exactly what Bullies do. As he catches fish, they're always the smallest kinds much like how the bullies target who seems weaker and smaller than them to make themselves feels strong and superior, but those things do neither as it displays how spiritually weak a person they truly are.

Of course, really like the E. C. comics payoff in the end which goes with an old saying that "there's always a bigger fish to catch."

Rating: 3 and a half stars.
