Here's one of the later examples of an early film genre that vanished: an extended shot of downtown, whether it's Union Square in New York, or some other civic center. This happens to be Berlin, and a lot less obviously urban than most of them; lots of elegant carriages, and nowhere near as much traffic. No automobiles, just horses and people walking. The streets are remarkably clean, and the camera is on a moving object.
