Storyline

STELLA is a three-man comedy troupe from New York City, comprised of well-known comedians and actors Michael Showalter, David Wain, and Michael Ian Black. Though the three have made a living performing at comedy clubs, they are perhaps best known for their homemade short films. The STELLA SHORTS have garnered cult success because of their nonsensical plotlines, absurd dialogue, graphic sexual humor, sporatic violence, and sheer hilarity. This DVD showcases the trio's first twenty-three adventures, each one more bizarre and hysterical than the last. Highlights include: a game of whiffleball that goes terribly awry, an expedition to the South Pole to meet Santa Claus, an edge-of-your-seat moustache-growing contest, a twisted "whodunit" murder mystery, and much, much more. Trivia

The shorts were originally filmed as part of Stella's stage show. The idea behind the early shorts was that the shorts had taken place a few hours before the show, and that was the reason the group appears dressed in suits in the shorts. In fact, the suits they wore in the shorts were to match the suits they wore during their stage act. See more »

Stella at their Best
12 November 2005 | by General_GSee all my reviews

Wow, Stella Shorts are great! Lots of patrons from The State and Stella, the TV show. I never knew that Stella could have gotten any better then they were on the TV show Stella or even Comedy Central Presents: Stella. I also never knew short comedies could be any good. My favorite ones were Pizza, Racking Leaves, The Woods and David arranges to a meeting with his long lost cousin Greg. I think over all that David was the funniest one. Its funny when he doesn't make sense. I like the music in the shorts. Thats something I pay attention to a lot. They always had good taste in music. I wish they still made shorts, either that or bring back there sitcom. I hope they continue making good and funny comedy.
