Making the news accessible
The Jeugdjournaal is a daily news broadcast for children produced by the Dutch public service broadcaster NOS since 1981. Many of its presentators have since moved on to the regular news broadcast of NOS.
Jeudgjournaal greatly makes news accessible to children. The broadcast does not shy away from heavy subjects and is free of the pretence that certain subjects would not interest children. The programme also shows that it takes children seriously by including interviews with them on current affairs and enabling them to form their own opinions.
That is why I believe that the Jeugdjournaal is a great news broadcast for children without it being obviously so.
