Sex & Nudity

  • The main character wears arousing/form fitting clothing.
  • One scene wear main character changes clothes in the back of a car. She say's "no peeking", but the male character tries to look at her changing clothes. Barely anything of her changing is seen
  • Mild sensuality comments, bare midriffs, mini skirts, and a kiss. Some actions by Herbie towards a younger car (a new Volkswagen Beetle).

Violence & Gore

  • Slapstick violence and some crashed cars, sending one character to the hospital (the crash and hospital scenes are quite mild).
  • The two main characters go to a movie where a skeleton is walking toward the screen.

Profanity

  • Pretty strong and frequent for a G-rated movie by today's standards, including at least 8 uses of "Oh my God," 2 of "God" and 1 use of "Swear to God." Also one "Crap."

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Younger kids may be worried when we see cars being smashed and crushed in a junkyard, with Herbie being next. A forklift then picks him up and starts to take him over to the crusher, but he ends up falling onto another car that Maggie originally wanted as her gift.
  • The hospital and crash scenes could seem intense to very young children.
  • The skeleton walking toward the screen in the movie theater could have the same effect.
