Amusing but not totally successful
She is trying to do the washing when the machine breaks. He is too busy messing around with his toy racing cars to help her or do anything useful like tidy the garden. When she has a go at fixing it she only manages to electrocute herself - getting no sympathy from him! However the electric shock seems to have brought the washing machine to life - and it shows her more affection that he has been recently.
In an off the wall spin on envy and being taken for granted in relationship, this film sees a boyfriend under threat from an electrical application that is able to give his girlfriend more pleasure than he does. If that sounds a bit dodgy then I'm not sure if it was meant to or not! However it is amusing in the way it uses the washing machine in the role of another man giving attention to Her while He knows he is under threat. In a way the script is very good - I have been in a similar situation and, sadly, I didn't react in the way that I should have done, I reacted like He did here. I should have stepped up rather than hoping she wouldn't be won over by the attention.
Anyway, besides this personal relatablity that I found with it, it is also quite amusing in it's own way. As a story it doesn't quite work simply because it doesn't have a good ending, nor is it particularly funny in terms of belly laughs - but it is still worth a look. Carter has little to do but Hardie does really well as Her, considering the washing machine is no more than an lcd display she reacts well.
Overall this is not perfect but it is clever and different enough to be worth seeing. It doesn't manage to develop it's real life relationship points fully enough, nor is the fantasy stuff funny enough, but as a mix it does both reasonably well.
