Frankie Darro links together three vignettes as a telegram messenger in a series of blackouts in this entry in Paramount's "Hollywood on Parade" series of one-reelers. The series was produced from 1932-1934 by Lew Llewyn and was intended to let audiences see the stars outside of their usual feature roles.
Most of the stars seen were Paramount contract players at the time, although not exclusively so. Charlie Chaplin shows up in the company of Paulette Goddard -- they were dating at the time. Cary Grant is seen buying roses for his current wife, Virginia Cherril. Although it is all very clearly staged, this was a popular sort of short subject at the time and noteworthy because it offered the stars as normal people instead of the freaks that so many celebrity featurettes seem to offer these days.
