Chris injects enthusiasm and layman understanding into various machines and their history, ranging from rockets to trains. Very enjoyable, as complex engineering feats are explained by Chris in a non patronising, entertaining and clear manner. And you can get away with watching it without feeling too much of an anorak... His use of props to explain and demonstrate is amusing. The only episode I didn't particularly enjoy was the one about tanks, mainly because despite blowing stuff up it hardly showed the best of human ingenuity. Still, rough with the smooth I suppose and one dodgy episode shouldn't tarnish the whole series.

OK if you aren't interested in history

Yet again Barrie utters such utter drivel as "The first operational jet fighter in the world" when talking about the Gloster Meteor.
This disturbing lie and his habit of ignoring everything the Germans achieved was also present in his Britain's Greatest Machines. What's the point? The Germans led the world in almost every field in the first half of the century yet this blithering idiot and his seemingly equally cretinous research team just decide the Brits did everything first and best (remember his piece on the Crusader tank? What a cart-horse wast of metal THAT was, yet to him it was a "Great" British machine).
I'm sick of his lies. It is plainly his vision to see German engineers and brilliance written out of history, and if enough equally pathetic morons watch this drivel it may work in "Great" Britain. However, it's nice to see some old stuff and actually see them still working, so i have to watch his offerings with no expectation of accuracy.
He is a moron if he believes the filth he spouts. His researchers are morons if they think they can constantly feed him this filth and get everyone to believe it. But it's purely WRONG.
