Good but not among the very best.
This is yet another very good episode of PBS's show, "The American Experience". It tells the story well and is yet another high quality production--and I have no complaints about it. For me, it was not among the most interesting topics I'd seen on the series, but it certainly was a very important one. Surprisingly, considering how long and difficult a task this was, it was completed in 1869--only six years later! There were a variety of topics covered in this episode, including: Crédit Mobilier fraud, the need for Chinese workers as well as their mistreatment, difficulties with completing specific portions of the railroad as well as near-bankruptcy as well as the ultimate benefit to the nation. My only misgiving is that while important, it's certainly not among the more interesting episodes of the show. Still, it's well worth watching and should hold your interest (unless you are the sort who prefers reality TV and the like).
