She says he never left. That snatches of him keep coming back, reminding her that those we love leave a part of them with us. But writer Sutapa Sikdar, wife of late actor Irrfan also says that these days when she takes two steps forward, something pushes her back. That life’s chronology seems to have altered, and time moves with an erratic rhythm.
“He was not just my husband. Our relationship began with friendship and he stayed my best buddy. A partner of 30 years… how do you deal with that loss? It has been more than three years but… I was never prepared but then we never are,” she told Ians.

The Indian film industry has historically been a male-dominated one, but the winds of change are blowing across the country, albeit slowly.
Better-served than the rest of the country is the Mumbai-based Hindi-language industry, where there are several active female filmmakers including Zoya Akhtar (“Gully Boy”), Reema Kagti (“Gold”), Leena Yadav (“Rajma Chawal”), Gauri Shinde (“Dear Zindagi”), Meghna Gulzar (“Raazi”), Shonali Bose (“Margarita With a Straw”), Farah Khan (“Om Shanti Om”) and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari (“Bareilly ki Barfi”), to name just a few.
“The new generation of young women directors is now making ad films, web series, corporate films, short fiction, documentaries and feature films, so it’s getting to be quite a level playing field,” says Priya Krishnaswamy, who works in Mumbai. Her Tamil Nadu set Tamil-language film “Baaram” is making the rounds at festivals.

Director Leena Yadav has been invited by the prestigious Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences popularly known as the Oscar Library to send in the screenplay of her internationally-acclaimed film ‘Parched’ for their Core Collection. Produced by Ajay Devgn and Written by Leena and Supratik Sen, the film has already garnered over 18 prestigious awards worldwide and the invite comes as another laurel for the makers.
“It’s a great honour for your film’s script to be invited to be a part of the library, so naturally I am delighted. But not just that, I am thrilled with the overall response the trailer and the film has been getting across,” says Leena. Interestingly, the screenplay of Leena’s debut film ‘Shabd’ too is a part of the collection at the Oscar library. “Yes, it is twice as nice for me. It’s encouraging as a filmmaker,” she adds.

As you walk out of Roy you wonder what you could have possibly done to warrant being subjected to that. Yes, we have our first unbearable release of 2015. And before you argue that we’ve had other bad ones, rest assured they were not as bad as this.
Vikramjit Singh’s debut film has a promising cast and even a somewhat promising premise but apart from that it has nothing. It has no script, no performances to boast of and above all, no entertainment value.
In brief this snoozefest is the story of a film writer/director (Arjun Rampal) who sets out to make the third instalment to his largely successfully film franchise. He meets another filmmaker while shooting (Jacqueline Fernandes) and the outcome of their relationship has repercussions on the film he is making. Amidst the story of the two filmmakers is also the story of the film characters...

It was just eight years ago that Irshad Kamil started out with Chameli moving on to Socha Na Tha, Ahista Ahista, Karam, Shabd and more. The good times did not take long to start rolling, beginning with Jab We Met, and rapidly progressing to Love Aaj Kal, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Action Replayy, Mausam, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Desi Boyz and Rockstar. The lyricist, however, is in no hurry of any kind. "I want to work hard and with complete honesty," he says candidly. "I am not in the game of trying to show that I am a big-name lyricist - I would like to be content even being a Raja Mehndi Ali Khansaab, a small name with an impeccable reputation. I have never been impatient in the matter of fame or money. I turn down films whose stories I do not like.

This could well be out of the Mahabharata, where Arjun went against his own brothers, the Kauravas. Recently, Arjun Rampal signed his next with Pritish Nandy's older son, Kushan Nandy, a film that will be made under the Pritish Nandy Communications (Pnc) banner. On the surface, this may seem like any other piece of news but it isn't. Arjun may argue that he was being professional in signing the project but his best buds Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar may not buy into that. For the past six years KJo and Srk have been at loggerheads with Pnc.That after so many years Arjun would go against his friends and sign a film with Pnc comes as a huge shock to everyone connected with the Srk camp.Reportedly, in 2004 during the private screening of one of Pnc's films, Shabd, Gauri Khan and Karan Johar came to watch the film with a friend.

BollySpice takes a look at Teen Patti, a Hinduja Ventures and Serendipity Films film, directed by Leena Yadav (Shabd). The film brings together Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley.
The film also stars R. Madhavan, Shraddha Kapoor, Dhruv Ganesh, Siddharth Kher, Vaibhav Talwar, Saira Mohan and Raima Sen.
Amitabh Bachchan is Venkat Subramanyam, the reclusive math genius at the heart of Teen Patti, the discovery of his equation will change all other equations. He knows knowledge is priceless – but what if the price of knowledge is life itself?
Ben Kingsley is Perci Trachtenberg, the magician and maverick mathematican, the only man who can and does recognize Venkat’s brilliance. A spectator to the game, he keeps the wheels of the plot turning.
R. Madhavan is Shantanu Biswas, dashing and dangerous, his ambition and greed get in the way of clear thinking – and morality. Forced to choose between love and lust, this...

'Shabd' (2005): A megalomaniacal writer is an intriguing basis for a story, and actor Sanjay Dutt nails the role with aplomb. He and actress Aishwarya Rai, who plays his wife, are a powerful onscreen pair, and the intense interaction between the two—both in their love scenes and their dialogue—is the highlight of the film. Sanjay’s character, Shaukat, is an award-winning novelist who prods his wife Antara, a college professor, into having an affair with her colleague, Yash (played by Zayed Khan), so he can use the experience as material for a new book. His selfish manipulation of his wife and her willing participation in such a cruel emotional game—in which they all suffer, but Yash is the only innocent victim—is riveting. However, there are two glaring problems with the film. First, Yash is far too immature to be convincing as a college professor...

There are good things happening for Madhavan when it comes to his Bollywood stint. He has now signed films with two young promising directors - Navdeep Singh of Manorama Six Feet Under fame and Aanand Rai who has earlier directed Strangers - and both the films are slated to go in floors soon. "Yes, I have signed films with both Navdeep and Aanand. These are my kind of directors because for them what holds utmost importance is a concrete storyline. I saw that in 13B and this is why I worked with director Vikram Kumar. I got a similar feeling when Navdeep and Aanand narrated the scripts of their respective films to me. I was simply blown over and had no hesitation signing up for the films", says Madhavan from Bangkok where he is currently lodged for a business trip. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is set to share screen space with Oscar-winning actor Ben Kingsley in Leena Yadav’s ambitious ‘Teen Patti’.
Ambitious because her last so called ‘intelligent’ movie ‘Shabd’ didn’t do well at all
‘Teen Patti’ is inspired by the Hollywood flick ‘21’ where a professor played by Bachchan tutors five of his brightest proteges, played by R. Madhavan and newcomers Siddharth Kher, Dhruv Ganesh, Vaibhav Talwar and Shraddha Kapoor for high stake gambling, but with a cause.
And there was news about Big B sharing screen.
