An Absurd Piece That Could Well Have Been Kept From Us.
This quite dismal "extra" is the most modest in worth of an uneven selection supplied with a Universal DVD version of BEING JOHN MALKOVICH, with first-time feature director Jonze subject here of a truncated interview. It begins as Jonze is positioning himself behind the steering wheel of his automobile, the interviewer filming him on videotape from the passenger seat as they move along Los Feliz Avenue in Los Angeles. Following opening statements to the effect that filming has ended for - - MALKOVICH and post-production is being completed as well, the youthful director begins an acknowledgment of helpful crew members. After being asked by the interviewer as to how Jonze was able to garner the services of Malkovich, Spike, who has appeared to be suffering some physical discomfort, lurches from his vehicle, and we then have a dubious advantage of watching him as he vomits onto the street, after which he clambers back into the auto, and that is, blessedly, the end. All in all then, this is an item of little value that viewers will avoid to their benefit.
