Previously on Dance Moms -- by now, you should know the drill -- Abby continued her bracket-style-elimination-dance-dance-revolution-dance-off-battle to see who gets to perform a solo at Nationals. And Kendall dropped the scarf she was dancing with during her routine, securing Maddie's spot in the competition.
Thank Beyonce that Nationals is only one week away because this pseudo-tournament to determine who Abby chooses to perform is becoming tiresome. In this episode, "Nia vs. Kalani: Winner Takes All," we're down to the final match-up. At this point, It's insulting to viewers and downright wrong for the girls involved because it's clear that Abby will handpick who she wants to see perform. The whole dance-off thing is a charade. However, the recap must go on.

Don Pardo, the durable television and radio announcer whose booming baritone became as much a part of the cultural landscape as the shows and products he touted, including Saturday Night Live, died Monday in Arizona. He was 96.
Pardo died at his home in Tucson, where he moved after retiring from SNL, said his daughter, Dona Pardo. Executive producer Lorne Michaels asked him to continue with the show, so he flew back and forth to New York for many years. In recent years, he recorded his introductions from his Tucson home.

The fact that the state bailed out various banks created the absurd reality of socialism for the rich: heads I win, tails you lose
There is a game they play in the City called "show all". It works like this. One banker goes to another and dares him with a request to "show all". Then they both get their wallets out and the one who has the most cash takes all the other person's money. That simple. Winner takes all. Pity the poor trainee who took out a few thousand pounds in cash to buy a used car. He was absolutely convinced he was going to beat his boss when offered the "show all" challenge. He lost.
This mine-is-bigger-than-yours mentality says much about the mentality of bankers. Size matters. You don't need to go and see Martin Scorsese's new film The Wolf of Wall Street to know that excess...

No, I’m not for a moment suggesting that Claude, Margaret et al are creatures of the night — not-at-all-they-are-all-lovely-people-i-have-not-been-hypnotised … what? Where was I? Went a bit glassy-eyed, you say? Can’t think what that could have been. Anyway, yes: lovely people, all of them. Wouldn’t have a word said against them.
Seriously though, if you think about it there are similarities. Like the undead monsters of legend and fiction, these four advisors tear the candidates’ business plans to shreds, suck out any lifeblood from them, discarding the irrelevancies, the bravado and the plain lies, and leave behind either a shattered torn wreck of a person or, if they’re very lucky and very strong, a new creature worthy of joining their exalted ranks.

But who’s to say March Madness can’t apply to some other genres, like say...Star Wars. According to Mashable, Lucasfilm launched a creative bracket-style tournament in spirit of the month, called “This is Madness.” The competition squares off the top 32 Star Wars characters, split between the light and dark sides of the force. Some may have thought that British movie director Michael Winner died years ago. He stopped making films in the ‘90s and even wrote his own joke obituary which was picked up on by some media and taken seriously. Winner continued to live in London and found a new career as a film critic with the long-running “Winner’s Dinners” column in the Sunday UK Times newspaper. Winner is remembered in the film industry as well as the restaurant scene for his abrasive personality,
He directed Charles Bronson in six films including three, The Mechanic, Death Wish, and Death 3, that landed in my Top Ten Tuesday: The Best of Charles Bronson list from July 2010 http://wearemoviegeeks.com/2010/06/top-ten-tuesday-charles-bronson/). The current idea for the John Laurinaitis and Teddy Long feud over the General Managership of both the Raw and SmackDown shows is expected to culminate in a ‘Winner Takes All’ multi-man tag match at WrestleMania 28.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that a match involving a Laurinaitis captained team of heels would face a Long captained babyface team, with the winning captain becoming the permanent General Manager of both shows.
With the endorsement for Laurinaitis from the returning trio of Alberto Del Rio, Mark Henry and Christian, along with his lawyer David Otunga… we would probably suggest that is one team. Long’s team is less certain but could possibly include Randy Orton, Santino Marella, Drew McIntyre (which would be a good idea to do a storyline where Drew starts winning matches and ends up getting a place on the team, before turning on Long to join Johnny Ace’s...

Dancing With the Stars‘ Season 12 semifinals gave us the good (pretty much every routine performed by our final four couples), the gross (Bruno Tonioli referring to Karina Smirnoff as a p****), and the undeniably ugly (video footage of Kym Johnson’s ghastly neck injury). Plus, there was a “winner takes all” instant cha cha cha round that was more than likely introduced to ensure Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas will advance to the finale — even if they lose the popular vote in a landslide. Here’s how it all went down.

The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ semi-finals May 16 were more action packed than anything we’ve seen this whole season: there were injuries and frustrations galore, perfect scores and some naughty language!
For a show that has become largely predictable, Dancing with the Stars was quite exciting May 16. It was the semi-finals and we weren’t sure whether we should focus our attention on Bruno Tonioli‘s “pussy” reference (if you watched on the West Coast, it got bleeped), Hines Ward‘s flawless performances or Kym Johnson‘s nearly paralyzing neck injury!
The tough competition has worn on even the most resilient contestants and they started to crack. Kirstie Alley freaked out on Maksim Chmerkovskiy, making us nervous for her ability to get votes; meanwhile, Mark Ballas virtually stopped working when he decided his partner, Chelsea Kane, was “dead weight.”
Then there was judge Bruno Tanioli commenting on Karina Smirnoff‘s...

Hey, any man who agrees to wear butt padding deserves a spot in the finals.
Ralph Macchio and his professional partner Karina Smirnoff took on three dances during the "Dancing With the Stars" semi-finals -- the Argentinean tango, the salsa and the Winner Takes All cha-cha.
First up was the Argentinean tango and although his knee injury from last week wasn't completely healed -- "My knee's still a little sore -- it didn't hinder the couple's performance. What did hinder the performance was the judges' critiques. Bruno Tonioli said Ralph was "very stern and slightly detached" while Len Goodman said the dance "lacked a bit of emotion and didn't really smolder." Carrie Ann Inaba told him, "you have got to get the emotion in your face all the way done to your feet." Their Argentinean tango scored a 25 from the judges.

It’s the semi-finals (finally!) of the ‘Dancing with the Stars.’
While this should be the moment our baby ducklings emerge as graceful dance swans, a few are still molting. As the previews show, Kirstie is quickly disintegrating emotionally while Hines’s partner Kym hurts herself so badly she’s carried away on a stretcher during rehearsals. She manages to...

"Dancing with the Stars" has now entered the semifinal round with four remaining contestants. On Monday, May 16, Hines Ward, Chelsea Kane (aka Chelsea Staub), Ralph Macchio and Kirstie Alley had to perform three dances: two fully-choreographed performances and a cha-cha presented with the group. In the cha-cha, the last couple standing would be the winner and get 15 extra points.
Ralph, who has had his knee injury healed, danced the Argentine tango with his partner Karina Smirnoff. "It lacked a bit of emotion," Len Goodman said. For Bruno Toli, "it was too flat," and Carrie Ann Inaba agreed with him. Ralph got 25.
Kirstie and pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy danced the Viennese waltz. Bruno gushed, "Kirstie set sail majestically!" Len said, "That was a beautiful dance," and Carrie added, "You bring us in to the whole performance." Kirstie received 27.

"A long way from Friday, my friends," said host Tom Bergeron as Hines Ward and Kym Johnson completed their first dance of the "Dancing with the Stars" semi-finals.
Johnson just got a doctor's clearance just Monday (May 16) morning after suffering a neck injury on Friday in practice. Apparently a weekend of recuperation and rehearsal in a neck brace worked, because she and partner Hines Ward totally nailed their Argentine Tango.
Emotion was clearly close to the surface for the partners, who were both in tears at the end of the routine. In fact, judge Carrie Ann Inaba was blubbering, too, saying, "The connection was beyond what we asked for in a partner team and the dance was stunning."
Bruno Tonioli agreed, though his analysis was a lighter on emotion and heavier on the heat: "Every emotion was out there for the taking," said Tonioli. "The battle of wills between the man and women.

['Fringe' - 'The Plateau']
It's back "Over There" to check in on the real Olivia Dunham, which means our ongoing debate over what to call the other Dunham who's infiltrated our favorite team of agents and scientists is moot.
But, as promised, look for that poll at the end of the post to see what name you prefer: Fauxlivia, Altliva or Bolivia. Winner takes all!
If Olivia isn't careful, she may take all of the other Olivia's memories and truly make them her own. I'm guessing that means that Secretary Bishop isn't intending for the other Olivia to ever return home. Or he doesn't really care once he's been able to take advantage of the real reason he's going to so much trouble to convince our Olivia that she's his Olivia. Knowing the stakes, it does make more sense.
