Fantastic!

Nintendo are on top form here, following the popularity of the "Four Swords" mini-adventure that tagged along the back end of the GBA port of "A Link To The Past" Nintendo have done us all a great service and produced a version for the GameCube. It's not 3D - which, considering the style of play, isn't a drawback - and it contains a mesh of 2D graphics and 3D visual effects.

The game is, like the original, multiplayer-focused with each player requiring a GameBoy Advance and a GBA-GCN Link Cable to join in. Each player needs to work together to progress, but with this teamwork comes a sense of competitiveness - the person with the most Gems at the end of each level comes 1st...! You can, of course, play the game on your own (either using a GBA or using the GameCube controller, with the GBA screen appearing on your TV when necessary, e.g. when you enter a cave or building that would appear on your GBA screen) but it's not the same.

There will be arguments as to whether or not this is better than The Windwaker. Personally, I think it is. Then again, I always preferred 2D Zelda...
