"This Land" is an American short film from 2004 made by Evan Spiridellis and Gregg Spiridellis. It was the year of the Presidential Election that got decided between George W. Bush and John Kerry and the two face off as animated version in this very short film here. It only runs for two minutes. In here, you basically hear what the two candidates really think of each other, but what they would never say in public. But their supporters will say it for them perhaps. I think what makes this short film so entertaining is that it shows the flaws of both candidates and manages (unike the unfunny Funnyordie) to stay entirely neutral. Some other influential American politicians also get their fair share (such as Bill Clinton). I thought this was a very funny watch and exactly what political satire should be like. It's not offensive to anybody if it offends everybody and clearly this film does not take itself seriously at all. And apart from that, this one uses also a song that I really love a lot, namely Woody Guthrie's "This Land". I especially enjoy the version from Peter, Paul & Mary. I hope the Spiridellis' (or anybody else) will make an equally funny little cartoon film for the 2008 election too. I highly recommend the watch and I did not even need a Purple Heart to do so!
