- While the Browns are at dinner auntie arrives on a visit, bringing the children presents. To Baby Early she gives a bank, telling her to practice thrift. Every member of the Brown household, including Officer 711, who is calling on Jane in the kitchen, contributes some change to Early's bank. In the morning Brown discovers he has no carfare, and fearing to ask Mrs. Brown for it, borrows from Early's bank and substitutes poker chips for the coins he takes out. Frank Brown needs money to purchase a kite and soon there is a run on the bank by the members of the Brown family. After Early has been put to bed and her elders are playing dominoes, Second-Story Steve enters through the window of Early's room and shakes her bank. Baby wakes and screams. Her cries are heard. Constable 711 captures Steve and expresses his opinion that the meanest man in creation is one who would rob a child's bank. Steve is allowed to go as he was caught before he could open the bank. That night auntie, conscience stricken, enters Early's room to replace the coins she had abstracted. She disturbs the child and hastily leaves the room. Early awakes to find the bank open and instead of money she finds poker chips, washers, safety pins, buttons and peppermints. She is convinced that there has been another robbery and yells "Burglars." Brown enters her room and sees the poker chips. Knowing Mrs. Brown is following, he tries to get them from her before his wife comes in, but too late. Mrs. Brown and auntie run in and the three grown-ups look guiltily at each other. Early's screams have been heard by Constable 711, who, signaling for assistance, hastens to the Brown residence, only to learn the child has just had a bad dream.—Moving Picture World synopsis
