Revenge
Charles Prince makes friends with the woman who occupies the apartment next to his. Later, when a fat, balding rake tries to accost her in the street, he arranges things so he is a laughingstock.
It's a rather simple comedy. Like many of the era, it's barely more than a practical joke, but it does have a set-up that shows that Prince is a genial man, a gentleman, and that ladies appreciate it.
Prince entered films in 1909, and for the next five years, he was one of the most popular film comics in the world. Then came the First World War, film production dropped in France, and the American style of slapstick, produced by Mack Sennett and exemplified by Charlie Chaplin made him a back number. His film career continued in supporting roles through his death in 1933 a the age of 61.
