The Plener brothers are genius
chill_homy30 September 2007
I was invited to the first screening of this movie, when the Plener brothers (Noah, Benjamin and Gabriel) completed it. One word can be used to describe it: hilarious. The writing was absolutely brilliant, and the laughs came one right after the other. What I really enjoyed is how complex this 16-minute movie is. Noah and Benjamin are amazing writers - they not only put together a complex story but also managed to introduce a small number of complex supporting characters, each with his or her own personality and motives. The dialogue is witty, and the social commentary is actually very insightful. The entire cast has great comedic timing, which maintains a fast comic pace, and keeps the laughs flowing. At the screening, other short films were shown as well. It was from watching these movies that I really developed an appreciation for the work done on 'The Squeeze'. As opposed to the other films, the importance of not one single component of the film-making process was overlooked – the sound, editing, color, film texture, lighting, etc. were done to perfection. No doubt, Noah Plener put together a very good team. Last I heard, the Plener brothers were looking to put this movie on DVD. If you happen to come across it, I highly suggest you take a look – you won't regret it.
