A lasting memory and a lasting mystery as well !
Ahh, memories. Back in the late 1980s, when I was about 10 year old, the third channel of our national TV in Egypt used to bless us with many great cartoon shows. So everyday, except Fridays, at 5:10 PM sharp, we were in for a ride, enjoying different worlds of glamour, and without any break for commercials. Shows like (The Smurfs), (Hello! Sandy Bell), ("Takarajima" aka Treasure Island), ("Little Lulu to chicchai nakama" aka Little Lulu and Her Little Friends), and ("Koguma no Misha" aka Misha the Bearcub) which has no page in the IMDb yet.
Among all of these works, there was one that truly stood alone. For one reason, it was delicate and sad, about an orphan child dog, so cutely designed, that searches the whole world for his mother. And for another, it went off the air abruptly and vaguely, so we didn't have any chance to learn what happened eventually; did the boy find his mom?, did she find him? Did he unearth that she disappeared for good?!
After more than 20 years of confusion, I went into another maze. I wanted to get the accurate title of the show to find any information about it on line. But I couldn't find a clue! Simply, I watched it as dubbed into Arabic; therefore, its original title wasn't available. So how about the fact that I forgot even its Arabic title as well!
Hence, I left a question, retelling the whole story, in the comments of many videos concerning the 1980s cartoon series on YouTube. And after a year or so, someone, rather some good one, discerned what I was talking about, and revealed the real name: "Hoero! Bunbun"!
I just read that it was aired from 9 / 10 / 1980, to 9 / 7 / 1981, having only 39 episodes. But I couldn't know what was its end?, and did Bunbun and his mother got together at last?, or the series was canceled before that, or anything else it, would happen? All what I know that this is distinctively emotional cartoon. It seems like the most creative "Fugitive" show I have ever run into. And it's a lasting memory as much as a lasting mystery.
Sure my PS will be about anyone who has anything that could answer my questions: PLEASE E-MAIL THE POOR ME!
