Bowie fans will treasure it
MovieAddict201615 August 2006
It was hailed as his "farewell tour" - a career-spanning retrospective setlist with all his greatest hits, and the more recent instant classics such as the Trent Reznor collaboration "I'm Afraid of Americans" (a surprisingly catchy tune).

Bowie's vocals are at his best here - his voice has certainly improved with age. It's deeper, has more range and his falsetto is simply amazing.

Songs like "Rebel Rebel," "Space Oddity," "Ziggy Stardust" and "Suffragette City" are entirely catchy and others can range from mellow to upbeat.

This is an essential DVD/audio CD for any fan of Bowie. If you're not a fan it's also a good place to jump in because it has all his best songs in one place. Or, start with the Singles album, which has the studio versions.

Great stuff
casey-1333 March 2005
This DVD is amazing for Bowie fans. He is amazingly still very much on top of his game with this performance. The sound and video quality are amazing, on my modest home theatre setup anyway. The features aren't exactly the greatest. There's a clumsy jukebox function that I gave up on, I would just use the jump forward control on the DVD player or possibly program the sequence if your player does that. Most of the new stuff is great and he performs the old numbers in a way that gives you goosebumps. The duet with his guitarist/backup singer on Under Pressure is amazing and his vocals on older songs like Fantastic Voyage have made me look back at some of his older stuff I'd forgotten. The best tracks on this DVD are Under Pressure, Fantastic Voyage, and Never Get Old, in my opinion, but the whole disc rocks. I got mine at Target for just $9.99, worth checking out.

Bowie fan? Buy it.

Warning: Spoilers
Little Wonder, Space Oddity, Cat People, TVC15, Young Americans, Station To Station, The Jean Genie, Thursday's Child, Diamond Dogs, Suffragette City, Blue Jean, Golden Years, Rock And Roll Suicide, Absolute Beginners, Drive-In Saturday, 1984, Moonage Daydream, Dead Man Walking, Prettiest Star, Scary Monsters, Let's Dance, The Laughing Gnome (heh)... None of them are on here, more's the pity. Still, it's churlish to quibble with this nonetheless wide-ranging selection of Bowie classics and oddments, performed by a fine band crucially including keyboard maestro Mike Garson and indispensable bass player/vocalist Gail Ann Dorsey, along with 'Station To Station'-era veteran Earl Slick. The lack of extras whips a couple of stars off the total, but the music is the important part, and even the most ardent Bowie fan will be pleasantly surprised by an almost-R'n'B (in the 1960s sense) "Heroes", a gorgeously skeletal 'Life On Mars', a daring rearrangement of 'Rebel Rebel', the darker, more cynical-sounding incarnation of 'Fame', and so on. Buy it, you'll like it.

What a show
mrflanman30 November 2004
Bowie wanders seamlessly through thirty years of songs, from Rebel Rebel to his new album and songs such as "New Killer Star" and the title track "Reality." It really showcases his talent, and the incredible, elaborate performances of his musicians, Earl Slick and Gail Ann Dorsey, among others. Without kimonos or clown suits or red gogo boots, the Thin White Duke delivers a show in Dublin as powerful as "the Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust." Rather than donning classic gear and milking his countless images, like Kiss or Michael Jackson, Bowie soars above all superstars in pair of black jeans and converse. His radiant smile during "All the Young Dudes," or sly wink during "Changes" commands attention, and his voice has grown stronger through the years. When he hits the final note in Ziggy Stardust, it soars over the entire crowd. A Reality Tour is an introspective look at a career that spawns and morphs and changes and improves at every turn. One hell of a concert, not one to miss. Buy it!

An accurate replay of the "reality tour", a great show
kenjmclaren1 November 2005
David put together a fabulous tour band and knocked us all out with the best "vocal performance" of his career. The filming of the show is outstanding and the sound is superb, so be prepared to crank it up and have fun. We were so impressed by his vocals on this time out of the gate that we compared it with playback from "CDs", with-out a doubt the mans voice is better than at anytime in his career. David has traditionally enjoyed his time in front of his fans. This film captures the enjoyment that he has, watching us enjoying him. As a performer and a mature rock artist he really has a great list of tunes that he put together for the tour and the film. If you do not own a David Bowie music film and you only have a desire to purchase one, this is the film to get for the variety of tunes and the quality of the vocals. If you missed this tour and have not been following David Bowie recently there are enough new songs with the old stand-bys to bring you back up to date. A lot of fun and a great addition to any rock film collection.
