Fans of the popular FX show Shōgun, get ready because if everything works out, you may get two more seasons. But they are moving forward with the creative team behind the first season, including co-creators Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo, executive producer Michaela Clavell, and producer and star Hiroyuki Sanada. The estate of Shōgun’s author, James Clavell, is also on board.
Sanada has reportedly signed a deal for the second season if it is renewed. However, it has not officially been renewed at this time.
Shōgun was the most popular show on FX by hours watched, but it was also the most expensive show FX has produced. Now the ten-episode series is also available on Hulu.
Given how popular the show was and that FX reportedly submitted the series for Emmy consideration in the “drama” category instead of “limited series.” If they did, it likely means they are serious about another season.

This past summer, as Hollywood faced its second major strike, the president of actors union SAG-AFTRA took the podium. She was without makeup, she was raspy and she was pissed. Gone was the ozone-shattering hairspray and the wild prints plucked right from the zoo. Nowhere in earshot was the dog whistle voice and the dolphin laugh. This was Fran Drescher: not the street-smart bimbo of somehow successful sitcoms and expectedly by-the-numbers romances, but the woman who will do anything to show her loyalty and not back down from anything. She had done it throughout her career through battles with industry execs and cancer, and now she was doing it against some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
Wtf Happened to…Fran Drescher?
But to truly understand what the fuck happened to Fran Drescher, we go back to the beginning. And the beginning began when she was born on September 30th,...

Russell Brand made some rare comments about his ex-wife, Katy Perry.
The British actor recently revealed that his short-lived marriage to the “Hot N Cold” singer occurred during a “chaotic” time in his life while appearing on Sunday’s episode of “Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge”.
Brand, 48, and Perry, 38, were married for 14 months after tying the knot in 2010. The English comedian famously called off their marriage via a text message minutes before Perry was set to hit the stage for a gig.

“That was when I was sort of most in the public eye and working in America,” Brand told Grylls of that time period when he was roughly 35 years old and had just started to make “a proper living” as an actor.

The following article contains spoilers for "The Little Mermaid."
Back in 1989, Disney animation was having a renaissance. "The Little Mermaid" brought fans back to the theaters to see a brand new Disney princess in Ariel, the teenage mermaid who longs for adventures on land. She falls in love with Prince Eric but cannot speak to him after giving her voice to the sea witch Ursula to get her fins replaced by legs. Ariel and Eric ultimately marry at the end of the film. I'd feel bad for giving you spoilers, but it's been 34 years since it came out.
There has been some modernization of Ariel's character in the new live-action version of "The Little Mermaid," so I wondered if Ariel (Halle Bailey) and Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) would actually marry this time around. Like many of you, I've read all the memes and lists about the ages of Disney Princesses and...

Hasbro extended its streak of Wall Street disappointments, delivering a weaker-than-expected forecast for 2023 along with soft fourth-quarter financials reflecting a host of holiday-season challenges.
Revenue slid 17 to about 1.7 billion in the quarter, while earnings per share came in at 1.31. Hasbro is projecting 2023 adjusted earnings of 4.45 to 4.55 per share, which is well below analysts’ consensus of 4.88, according to Refinitiv.
This morning’s quarterly earnings report was in line with an early glimpse at the financials offered by the company several weeks ago, along with the news that the Rhode Island-based toymaker would lay off 15 of its workforce.
Also hanging in the balance during the period of financial challenges is eOne, the film and TV studio known for characters like Peppa Pig. Hasbro last fall announced it was shopping eOne, which it acquired for 4 billion in 2019. Along with Covid and myriad economic challenges like inflation, foreign currency fluctuations and supply-chain snags, Hasbro...

The world of behind the scenes Star Wars conspiracy theories is up there with QAnon for being completely insane and almost impossible for outsiders to understand. To boil it down to the basics, a small but loud group of fans fervently believe that Lucasfilm is violently divided at all times. Their claims range from baseless rumors about Pedro Pascal being fired from The Mandalorian right up to everyone even tangentially involved with the franchise having knives out for Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
But the latest rumor is a real head-scratcher even for those who follow this stuff. In an extremely circuitous article by ‘Wdw Pro’ on the Pirates and Princesses site, it’s being claimed that there is “immense pressure” from within the company to ditch the Luke Skywalker and Baby Yoda storyline from all future plans.

I can’t tell you I knew anything about the character known as She-Ra or her princesses of power. And, really, neither did “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” creator Noelle Stevenson at the outset. Stevenson admitted she was born too early to engage with the headdress-wearing, cape-rocking Greek goddess, who became successful in her own right after being spun-off from the popular hero known as He-Man in 1985.
But despite never engaging with the property in the moment, Stevenson says She-Ra was “baked into the zeitgeist.” So when she started working on her first show, the animated “Wander Over Yonder,” she found herself working with a group of “Masters of the Universe” fans, putting this character, whom Stevenson only knew by name, into her orbit. The place that it holds in our imaginations, even with people who didn’t grow up with it fascinated her, Stevenson told IndieWire. Upon...

Known for his portraits of people and connection to their employment such as Princesas (or unemployment via Mondays in the Sun), Fernando Leon de Aranoa is perhaps moving into a terrain that was touched upon with Danis Tanovic’s No Man’s Land. Variety reports that the filmmaker has managed to package an international ensemble cast comprised of Melanie Thierry, Benicio del Toro, Tim Robbins, Olga Kurylenko and Fedja Stukan for his English language debut going by the commonly used title of A Perfect Day. Production begins this month in Granada, Spain with Mediapro and Leon de Aranoa’s Reposado Producciones producing. Javier Mendez and Patricia de Muns are exec-producing.

MADRID -- Montxo Armendariz's Obaba and Fernando Leon's Princesas (Princesses) emerged as hot favorites Thursday to pick up plaudits this January at the Spanish Film Academy's 20th annual Goya Awards, Spain's highest film honors. Obaba, set in the Basque region and Spain's contender for a foreign-language Oscar, nabbed 10 nominations, including nominations in all the major categories. Princesas, set for its international premiere at Sundance next month, took nine nominations but failed to pick one up in the directing category. Competing for best film as well as the director prize are Alberto Rodriguez's hard-hitting teen drama 7 Virgins, with six nominations, and Isabel Coixet's La Vida Secreta de las Palabras (The Secret Life of Words), with five nominations. Produced by Pedro and Agustin Almodovar, Palabras stars Tim Robbins and Sarah Polley. Benito Zambrano will vie against the others in the directing category with his Habana Blues.
