Online review (scroll down for single player)

Currently there are still some bugs with EA's servers (as they host them), but the servers seem to get better and better everyday... and hasn't stopped anyone from playing this great game.

First thing's first for anyone looking into acquiring this title. Do not assume this is going to be like the PC version of the game as this is not a port in any right. It's been quoted as being "arcady" by the developers in comparison to it's PC counterpart. It's fast and action packed with 5 classes for each of the four playable armies, each with a different weapon for each army (e.g. all engineers have a shotgun but each type has it's pros and cons). There are several vehicle each army as well... helicopters too. There are many unrealistic things in the online portion of the game that some people will not like, but trust me that these things are required to keep everyone on their feet and the gameplay balanced as a whole.

You get promoted online through three different things; your total points (which are accrued by capturing flags in both classic Conquest mode and in Capture the Flag), taking down enemies, and destroying enemy vehicles), number of medals (which are received when certain requirements are met e.g. Expert Shooting requires killing four enemies with your five bullet clip using a sniper rifle without reloading), and your PPH... which stands for "Points Per Hour" which is measured by taking the total number of points you've gotten in the last 5 hours of gameplay and dividing it by 5 to measure your current skill level. Each rank has a certain requirement from each of these areas (e.g. the rank of Major requires 6 medals, a total of 4000 points or more, and a PPH of 55 or higher).

The clan match setup still has it's bugs and vulnerabilities for cheating... but all the honorable clans know and can tell who plays legitimately so if you want a good rep in the clan community... don't cheat... cause people research suspected clan's match history a lot of the time and report it (this will be fixed in the future).Also in addition to the great online experience they also have an awesome online community on the internet where you can find even more stats for yourself or other individuals/clans. Single Player Review

All i need to say is HOTSWAP! It's one of the best inventions when it comes to First Person Shooters (only available in singleplayer). It allows you to look at any computer controlled ally in your field of vision and at the press of a button swap from your soldier to the selected one... and to help you get the soldier class that you need... each ally has a blue icon above their head that signifies what type of soldier they are (which becomes white when you are able to hotswap to them). The campaign takes you through a storyline that seems like it comes straight out of the headlines in an alternate universe where two countries, Nato/US forces and the Chinese, are interested in Kazhakestan for either humanitarian reasons or for the control of oil. PROPAGANDA! For most of the campaign you switch off between these two forces... fighting for both sides... and with each major mission you watch the propaganda fly on that sides TV News. Then comes the decision what side do you want to fight for. Who do you believe? you get a chance to choose which side to finish the campaign fighting for which is pretty neat.

Throughout the campaign you unlock new classes as well as new weapons and upgrades for them (which do not transcend into the online play). Also challenges are unlocked based on mission success. Your rank in the single player is measured on how many stars out of 10 in each mission you earn based on Total Points, Time Taken to Finish, Accuracy, Teamwork (how often you hotswap), and stars can be taken away based on how many casualties your side takes. These stars are also earned through the unlocked challenges which include races in certain vehicles, weapon proficiency, and hotswaping proficiency.

All in all it can be fun... and there are hundred of enemies to take down. And they go down fast. The AI isn't the smartest... but who cares... it's more fun that way... it truly feels like an arcade game when your points in single player are rising by the thousands.

There is no co-op or split-screen multiplayer as from the main menu you can automatically tell that the online experience and single player experience are completely separate of each other.

This game like others has plenty of Pros and Cons... but I definitely believe it's per person and depending on what you go into this game expecting. My advice... check out the videos of gameplay at the games website first to see how fast the actions is as well as find more detailed information on the game.

Even though the graphics aren't up to par with its PC brother you have to consider it's on 4 year old consoles. I highly suggest this game to anyone that has XBOX Live or their PS2 capable of online play... as for anyone that only can play the single player... it's definitely something to rent. The game currently comes with a 2 month free trial to XBOX Live for the XBOX users if you have a broadband connection in the house. If you do... you should definitely check out the online portion and consider making this a part of your game collection.

I give the online portion of this game a 9.7 out of 10 and the single player portion of this game a 6.8 out of 10

This seemed interesting, so I got it. Sadly, a very dull game. The missions are bad and if you die, you will have to start from the beginning. Sometimes you have to kill all enemies, like snipers. They can be hard to find and if you die, you will have to do it all over again. Gunplay also lacks satisfying feeling.

Battlefield 2 surpasses all expectations. For those who may have played the originals, you would understand that Battlefield gives you total access to a full-scale war. Ride any vehicle, shoot any weapon, do anything. Well, Battlefield 2 takes the next step, allowing total access to every unit on the field via 'hot-swapping.' At the click of a button you can be giving cover fire to ground troops assaulting a village, and then equally as quick you can be on the front line storming nearby ruins.

The game follows a fictitious war throughout Asia, playing as NATO, Chinese and European Forces. The single player campaign will switch between these individual groups as the game progresses.

As well as the standard single-player campaign, there is a variety of 'challenges' that you can perform to increase your points, stars - and therefore your rank. These range from racing around villages in a Hummer, 'Hot-swapping' across areas as quickly as possible, and of course, target practice.

For those of you looking for a modern war shooter (think Ghost Recon 2 on a larger, First-person scale), then give Battlefield 2 a go. You certainly won't be disappointed.
