stop talk listen now please believe

this is a wonderful documentary from the hand of the musician Michael Franti. this film shows what he finds in the occupied countries and cities of Baghdad and Gaza, it doesn't show the political aspects but the human costs of war. the movie is touching, moving and shocking. Michael Franti goes into dangerous areas, to show the people and listen to there stories. he talks to people who want to make a change, people who want to live in peace.

a wonderful aspect of the movie is that he shows both side's. in Baghdad he shows the people of Iraq but also the Americans. in Gaza he shows the Palestinians and the Israeli people. he doesn't judge anyone of them, he just want to understand the situation.

there is one meeting near the end of the movie between an Palestinian and Israeli soldier, that really moved me. they want to live side by side, but then the government needs to change. one of them says; "we need a government that isn't lead by religion. if religion is involved in politics it is giving trouble."

i can tell you a lot more about this film, but you have to see it for yourself. you will be surprised, you will be laughing, you will be shocked and you will be crying.

I Know I'm not alone DVD

I am a fan of Michael Franti's of Spearhead rock/reggae group. Michael Franti is a dedicated peace activist. I really enjoyed my copy of "I Know I'm not alone", it is very explicit on how things are in the middle east. Michael Franti is a brave man, he spent his own money and traveled to the middle east to entertain the troops, the children and people of these war torn countries. I have given I know i'm not alone

a 10 (excellent) rating. This movie shows the true people of the middle-east, they are not to be feared, but to be cared for and loved. It is not the citizens of these countries that we should be in fear of, but the political governments that control and manipulate said countries. I hope that everyone buys a copy of 'I know i'm not alone", to help close the boundaries of our countries with understanding and peace. peace and joy angel

Accompany MIchael Franti to Iraq and the Gaza Strip

I saw this movie at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA. I found it moving, informative, and to my surprise, full of humor and lighter moments. Michael Franti has a way of "disarming" those around him and that talent comes in quite useful during his trip. The first part takes place in Bagdad. We see an occupied people and the effect that the war has had on them and their country. Michael is brave enough to even hang with coalition forces and sing some tunes for them. Then he goes to the Gaza strip where we see how both the people of Israel and the Palestinians have been affected by the long time conflict there. I highly recommend seeing this movie if you get the chance. It is, for the most part, a very objective look at the cost of war on people. It gives a perspective you will not see in the corporate media.

beautiful, touching, and somehow optimistic

this film is an incredibly honest snapshot into what the people in Baghdad, Israel, West Bank & Gaza Strip are feeling. This film will force you to acknowledge that every human life is as valuable as the next, and that war is a thief.

Michael Franti seems to be an honest and compassionate musician, who took it upon himself to seek the truth about the climate of these areas when he was curious about the truth being conveyed in the media. His way with people is remarkable, and his music and musicianship gained him access to otherwise unreachable people and conversations. Highly recommend this film as well as Michael Franti's & Spearhead's music.
