Enrique Alonso a.k.a. "Cachirulo" was a younger close friend and cultural heir of Maria Conesa, a famous music theater actress and singer in the beginnings of the twentieth century. Both shared a passion for the zarzuela genre, imported from Spain and very popular in those times. Enrique kept her memory alive and took care of her collection of dresses. He later hosted a public TV show with the best zarzuela music played by talented singers.
Enrique Alonso received a homage for 50 years of artistic career in Mexico's Palace of the Fine Arts, the most important space for any Mexican artist.
His phrase at the end of each show was a cheerful "adios amigos!"
Cachirulo said this show was "for the kids, for the dads of the kids, and for the dads of the dads of the kids."
