A powerful modern tragedy
info-450019 June 2005
Wow. This movie begins with a deliberate, plodding set-up that lulls you into thinking you've stumbled into some perfect little yuppie world. Then, "The Shocker" shows up... brilliantly played by filmmaker, Cleve Lamison, and tosses a gallon of gasoline on the smoldering coals of the main character's (Jack Newman, played with brooding intensity by Sean Patrick Reilly) discontent with his 9 to 5 lifestyle and we are off to the races.

What makes this movie great are the near misses... the times when this feuding married couple seem to be just on the brink of working things out and just missing it! Things spiral out of control and before you know it you crash into one of the most powerful endings I've ever seen in a film. I saw this film at a small festival out west and was struck dumb by how good it is.

If ever there was a film that deserved a theatrical release, it was FOLLOWING BLISS. Congratulations to everyone involved. Marvelous work.
