Dr. Richards interrupts Scott slacking off in the lab near the beginning of the movie. Scott is eating and reading a book on Cuba; when asked what he thinks he's doing he responds, "Having some food and learning about Cuba", a reference to Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn)'s famous line in "Ridgemont".
When Ricky is trying to resurrect his dead brother with his cellular regeneration formula, he injects it into his heart with a syringe while his brother is lying on the living room floor. This is a reference and is shot exactly the same as the scene in "Pulp Fiction" where Vincent gives Mia a shot of adrenaline in the heart.
