On Fire . . . .
BigWhiskey9 April 2005
These guys really were on fire.

What a truly great DVD this is. Truth be said, Queen weren't popular after their 'disasterous' "Hot Space" album.

But this is the tour, and they done the disco songs like "Staying Power", "Back Chat" and "Action This Day" and transformed them into traditional Queen stage classics. But this album apparently killed their success in America. But there are still loads of devoted American Queen fans as much as there are British. They are a great band with an awesome universal appeal.

This is a different sounding concert if compared to "Live at Wembley '86". Queen were going through a transitional stage.

But they still showed cynics that they still knew how to rock.

Incredible performance
scottishrose3 December 2006
I own this on DVD. It is one of the greatest things ever. Whenever I'm alone in the house, I'll turn off all the lights and crank up the sound. It is an amazing experience, made all the more powerful when you realize how ALIVE Freddie was back then. This was truly a divine performance (and yes, Love of My Life still makes me cry every time).

The part that truly breaks my heart, though, is this: in the interview with Freddie Mercury, the interviewer asks "Do you think Queen will still be around in ten years?" Bear in mind that this was in 1982. Freddie seems so hopeful, so easygoing. He has no idea that in ten years the songbird will be silenced. It hurts me to see that. Oh, how I love him.

For any die-hard Queen fans out there, this is a must-see.

Freddie Mercury

What is your problem Roxy? You don't know what you're talking about! Freddie is awesome! I hate when people like you who obviously know nothing about talent try to judge! I've been operatically trained for 7yrs now and am about to go to school for vocal performance and I think Freddie's got a ton of talent! I also can't believe you're comparing Queen; one of the most contributing rock bands to the Spice Girls; talentless, daddy-did-not-love-me, girl powered, children! I, on the other hand believe is one of the greatest bands of all times... I have not got to hear all of this live album, but what I heard was entertaining! Maybe not their best performance, but still good!

Queen on fire

I bought the DVD of Queen on fire a few weeks ago, i may need to buy more copies, as i have just about worn this one out. It is THE best concert i have every seen, helps that i think Freddie Murcury is very hot! Its very entertaining and keeps you stuck to your chair, even after watching it about 50 times, i cant get enough Freddie. Such a shame that such an attractive, talented, smart man like Freddie isn't around today. But his music lives on, i don't think a day goes by that you don't hear a Queen song on the radio or TV. I think this DVD is priceless, knowing that Freddie didn't give may interview, i feel lucky to have a copy of it. Freddie still lives in my heart!

Excellent Queen concert
noway2-124 April 2006
Queen On Fire: Live at the Bowl DVD contains one of THE best Queen concerts. Every member of the band gave excellent performances, including Freddie Mercury's vibrant, arena rock voice will make the hair at the back of your neck stand up. Too bad I was too little to witness any of Queen's concerts when Freddie Mercury was still rocking the Earth. But now, with the magic of DVD and the power of digital remastering, you can almost feel as you're there among the other Queen fans. Great DVD for anyone getting into Queen or hardcore fans who do not own this instant classic yet. One of the minor concerns I have that really has nothing to do with the way they made the DVD, but the actual concert itself. The song "Flash" was an intro and was not really a live performance, and I would have liked to have seen it get performed live. Instead, they fly in on the helicopter when the concert starts.

Queen - Live at the Bowl
itsm-121 January 2006
This concert is really great! I bought the DVD when it came out, and I think it's real good. About one week ago, I finally got the CD. I actually think the CD is even better than the DVD, and ain't easy getting tired of..

Another thing I like about the concert is that it's from 1982. Queen were only in Norway one time, and that was the same year, so I think they played mostly of the same songs in Norway.

Until like one year ago I have always hated the Hot Space album, but now I think it's kind of funky and cool. Catchy beats... And it's cool to hear some of the songs in a live-version! The hole concert is a pretty good mix of hits and unknown songs. So it's kind of nice for the hardcore fans and the usual listeners...

My favourite songs from the concert is: Back Chat, Dragon Attack, Play the Game, Action this day, Another one bites the dust...

I really missed the old songs, like "Great King Rat", "You take my breath away", "My fairy King", "Doing Alright", "Death on two legs", "White Queen", "The March of the Black Queen", "Ogre Battle"...

AND THE VERDICT IS...

6,5 / 10

Great show !

Worst Concert EVER
roxy_44512 April 2006
Oh, this is terrible. The sound quality is awful. The songs are performed without any emotion at all. Almost as bad as a Rolling Stones marathon. Please, if we wanted to see something like this, we would have invented a time machine already. I mean, Freddie Mercury has one of the worst voices I personally have ever heard. He makes Roger Daltrey sound like an angel. And please tell me what is so great about Brian May's guitar? I mean, sure he made it himself and everything, but it's so screechy, it just makes you want to hurl! Many of these songs performed are from the notorious 'Hot Space' album, which has got to be the worst album ever recorded, with exception of 'Sgt. Peppers'. Full of mindless disco beats, these songs have no meaning at all, and will most likely give you a migraine before they even start. In conclusion, if you want to be mildly amused for a couple of hours, this should do the trick. For some real entertainment, I recommend The Spice Girls movie. Now that's entertainment!
