Nadine Samonte was almost casted as Darna when she was chosen to play the part by Joel Lamangan. But Lamangan dropped out because of his busy schedule, Samonte was replaced.

On its third day of release, it registered a rating of 52.1 percent which, according to a survey conducted by AGB Philippines, was the highest rating ever achieved by any local TV program. According to AGB, the series' rating never went below 30 percent during its entire airing. It was until 2008 that the record was beaten by MariMar who got a 52.6% rating in its finale.
Among the cast, Celia Rodriguez is the actress to have appeared in most of Darna movies, mostly as chief villain. She played the main villain Valentina in Lipad, Darna, lipad! (1973). She played anew the role in the comedy Darna, Kuno? (1979). She played Leiming in Darna at Ding (1980). In this TV series, she played Braguda, the main villain.
