Good look inside the world of competition BBQ
kungfugrip21 December 2005
This show takes a look (albeit brief) inside the world of competition BBQ. It takes two well known cooks (or teams) as well as local "amateurs" and has them compete for a chance to win cash. The cooks do not know what they are cooking or what they are cooking on until that day.All ingredients are given but they are allowed to bring one "secret ingredient." After they finish, the results are then judged by a panel of BBQ judges. The contestants view the judging on closed circuit so they are allowed to hear the judges' comments. This is good for the Qers because this isn't allowed during real competition.

It should be an entire hour, having a show like this is great, so it's a good start to get BBQ into the mainstream.

This show was a lot of fun!

I was a contestant in the Memphis episode. It was probably the hottest day I have ever cooked barbecue. The production crew was a diverse group who all knew how to put together a great show. If you are in the least bit interested in competition barbecue, I suggest that you try to catch any episode of this show. Just check the credits of any member of the crew and you'll know that this show was of the best production. It'll probably make you hungry for any kind of barbecue just by watching. Chris Lilly was a 6 time world champion at the time of the filming and is probably one of the most respected names in the competition circuit. For all of you who have not had the chance to experience competition barbecue, watch this and then go visit the International Cooking Contest at the Memphis in May festival in Memphis, TN. You won't be sorry. This show is full of fun, humor, and stiff competition.
