Great Making Of Featurette
Christine: Fast and Furious (2004)
**** (out of 4)
Excellent 29-minute featurette taking a look at the making of John Carpenter's CHRISTINE. Carpenter is joined by screenwriter Bill Phillips, producer Richard Kobritz, stunt driver Terry Leonard as well as the three leads in the picture Keith Gordon, John Stockwell and Alexandra Paul. Fans of the film are certainly going to love this thing since all of the main people are involved with the one exception being Stephen King but then again he never appears in these things. The featurette starts off talking about the opening sequence and how they shot it and then we go through pretty much the entire movie. Along the way we hear stories about technical issues with the car, the actor's trying to get into character and of course Carpenter is always honest about what he was trying to do with certain scenes. Some of the best stuff deals with the director talking about what he wanted to car and Arnie's relationship to be about and of course it's great hearing from Gordon. Another major plus is that we're shown a couple deleted scenes from the film including an extended sequence in the shop when Arnie is getting picked on. For the most part I thought the featurette did a very good job at really showing just about every aspect of the making of the film and it's hard to imagine anyone being disappointed.
